This winter has been so different from last year. It has been crazy-mild with not much snow. What little snow we did get would melt away. In fact, we weren't sure we were even going to have a white Christmas! About 2 weeks before Christmas, however, it decided to become a real winter.
And how!
Last year we went sledding on Christmas day and the snow was up to my thighs. We went sledding 2 weeks ago and the snow wasn't even up to my ankles.
But not now. It started snowing on Tuesday and snowed straight through until sometime in the night last night. According to the Anchorage Daily News, our month to date snowfall has been 12.1". That's pretty cool since it didn't snow this month at all until 4 days ago!
I'll snap some pics as soon as the sun comes up. Its pretty light out there now, but not all the way. Sunrise this morning is 10:01! (Its 9:30 right now) This is such an improvement. We're gaining 3 minutes 42 seconds of daylight today! Whoohoo! :) |
