• Saturday 18 March 2006 - Spring cleaning & some thoughts...

Posted in general

Today I have done about half of my kitchen cupboards, and the chimney on the top of the hood extractor, the kitchen is almost sparkling

Anyway, it won't be finished until monday, as I don't use to do this kind of things on sundays (morning is church and afternoon family outings or fun time!)

I'll post pics of it when it's done next week.

I really love homemaking and like so much seeing my clean kitchen and my well organized cupboards.

I would like so much to be a full time homemaker, I'm fed up with working outside of the home, I want to stay at home and have time to cook, bake, sew, knit, take care of my family without of the feeling of running all the time.

In fact, I grew up in a very feminist environment, when I was young I had no idea that I could stay at home, I couldn't even imagine it.

My mother had 4 children (I"m the eldest), she stayed at home about 8 years and she hated that.

During this time, she used to work from home as a trilingual secretary, by the time my younger brother went to kindergarten, she went back to work outside the home and she enjoyed it very much, at least during the first years...

My mom isn't very interested in feminin skills, she hardly can sew a button, I learnt a lot with my granny (knitting & sewing).

I had always been taught that I had to work hard in school to have a good job, then I did it ! After I graduated from college (I'm graduated in litterature and in sociology, I also have an educator diploma), I entered the work force.

I only quitted it for maternity leaves of my 3 children. After the birth of my son, I started to work part-time, 3 days a week, but with a special schedule (7am-3pm or 2pm-11pm), last year I went back to a normal schedule (9am-5pm), but 4 days a week.

In fact, we can't afford to live on one income because we have a huge mortgage for the house, we don't have other debts, but this one is enough, we 'll finish it in 3 1/2 years, after that I sure 'll quit, but I'll have miss a lot of my children childhood and this makes me really sad

If I can say something to younger ladies, please really think of it before having children, when you work outside of the home, you can't try to do two things at once, this is feminist brainwashing, and guess what is the most important for you ?

• Sunday 19 March 2006 - Some thoughts....

Hi! I really enjoyed reading your latest blog. There is certainly a great satisfaction in having a lovely clean and organised home. I like your thoughts on working outside the home. I also work part-time since having my two children. God willling by the time our new home is built by the end of the year I will be able to be a full time stay at home Mum. It is hard some days when all you want to do is stay at home with the children and do things around the home. Some days I feel like I am racing around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to fit everything I have to do in. Hang in there. God hear's our cry's. I hope you have a wonderful day. God bless you.

I got on your blog through Mrs. B's site. (my sister's blog is linked through hers called An Old Fashioned Girl) I look forward to browsing your site more! I just paused from listening to a French online Bible, and lo and behold, I find a blog of someone who lives in France. How fun! I'm learning French in college and LOVE it, though I'm not very far along. My dream would be to stay in France or some other French-speaking country, like in Africa, for a while to really learn the language and experience different cultures. Sadly traveling is not cheap, as I'm sure you know. ;-) Your English sure is good! Did you mention that your mom knows three languages? Did you learn English from her? Europe is so much better at encouraging language acquisition than the US.

• Monday 20 March 2006 - Couldn't agree with you more!

I just stumbled across your blog and read your last entry and I just had to say that I couldn't agree with you more! I'm the same way, I long to be home taking care of my family and my household, but I'm working full-time now with no end in sight.

Besides the feminist brainwashing about working, I would also caution young ladies about being good stewards of their finances. I always knew I wanted to be a stay-home mom, but my dh and I just can't seem to get in control of our finances, and in the meantime I'm sending my babies off to daycare every day and trying to keep my household from being too chaotic. Sorry, enough ranting! :)

P.S. I love your home management binder. Thanks for sharing. I have one but it's not nearly as detailed. I may borrow some of your ideas! :)

God Bless, Jenna :)
