• Tuesday 7 March 2006 - Delicious French Brioche

Posted in baking

Hello Ladies

First, I want to thank you for all the nice welcome messages I have received, they have been a real blessing !!

Today I want to share with you a very good recipe for the ones who own a bread maker.

This recipe is a scrumptious treat for your family.

I use to prepare it on saturday evening and I set the delayed start function early in the sunday morning... so we are awaken by the delicious smell of the Brioche

Well, let's go!

(I have translated the metric measures we use in France, I hope I haven't made mistakes)

You need:

3/4 cup of milk (165 ml)

2 tea spoon of orange-flower water

3 egg yolks

1 tea spoon of salt

1 1/2 cup of all purpose flour (375g)

1/2 cup of butter (100g)

3 table spoon of sugar

2 sachet of vanilla sugar (or 2 tea spoon)

1 sachet of instant dry yeast (or 1 tea spoon)

Put all ingredients in the bread maker (you can melt together the milk, the egg yolks and the orange flower water before), use the program "sweet dough".

Bon appétit !!

Candy, I am going to post about my home management binder ASAP, I have to take the pictures first  and translate some of my schedules, everything is in french !!

Mrs M, I suppose the flowers on the picture are lavender, but I am not sure...

Hi Muriel! I love your blog! I took French classes in High School, and I love French cooking. Well, I just love everything French. :-) I do have a question about your receipe. I want to try it, but I am unsure of where to find orange flower water. Is there a way to make it yourself, or could I find it online or in a store that carries French foods? Thanks for your help! Your blog will be one that I read regularly.

Hi Kathy,
I'm glad you like my blog !
You can find orange flower water in the pastry section in french stores, it's sold in bottle. However, it's optionnal in this recipe, you can add another flavour if you want

You have such a gentle way with words!!!
I took 4 years of French in high school...and a trip to Germany shortly after graduating with my SIL and cousin. We took a train trip to Paris. It was the HIGHLIGHT of my trip. We did it all...the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, restaurants, shops, Champs Elysees, boat ride on the Seine....oh, what a beautiful city!!!
I would love to return again someday...though, hopefully, my French would be better!
I look forward to reading more from you!!

Blessings,
Laurie

Actually I think you can get orange flower water in the states in the spice section. You might need to try an upper end store. My question is what is vanilla sugar? Also, do you melt the butter first before putting it in or is it room temperature?

I have a blog on
<a href="http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/mamaduso"> and I wrote a post on naming my school. My friend found your blog and emailed me with it. I thought maybe you could help. It's a contest actually and the prize is a pair of earings made by me. I make sterling silver jewelry. If you go to my website and find the post (about three or four down) you will see it. My last name is Dusseault. My husbands family are French Canadian. I have three daughters and call my blog Ladies in Training. Anyways if you are interested you can check it out. Otherwise I will be back. I want to try the recipe and read more.
