I have been reading with great interest all the entries on Sarah Palin. And I've decided to write about it from my perspective - here on the other side of the world.
Over the last few days our radio talkback shows have been full of Sarah Palin, because like it or not, whatever government America elects it will effect the other Western countries of the world. Also, I am interested in this election myself because I love America almost as much as I love my own country of New Zealand.
Whatever Sarah Palin's role as a wife and mother should be in the opinion of many here, I can tell you this much, that if I had the power to vote for her and John McCain, I would be the first one at the polling booth on election day, and I would be strongly urging every person I came in contact with to do the same. I might even be driven enough to help in the campaign.
I speak from 9 years of the experience of having a woman primeminister of my country who is the very antithesis of Sarah Palin. In fact, our woman primeminister makes Hilary Clinton look like a saint.
Our New Zealand primeminister is a woman - she is a career politician, conveniently married, no children (by choice), and is a feminist. She has done more to damage my country than all of the former primeministers put together. Her goal has been to change the moral fibre of what used to be one of the more conservative, most God-fearing countries in the world, and she is succeeding.
In spite of the fact that she has no experience whatsoever with babies and children, she has almost self-appointed herself to be what we New Zealanders say with tongue in cheek, our 'nanny.' Here are some of the laws that she has encouraged and has allowed to be voted in.
* Legal Prostitution
* Legalising Civil Unions
* Parental discipline is now illegal - even 'timeout' is dubious.
* She threatened to curb freedom of speech for the Press
* She has curbed freedom of speech for poitical parties during election year
* She persecuted a fundamental Bible believing (albeit slightly cultic) religious organization
* Sex education in primary schools
These are just a few of the many dangerous and anti-family laws that she has allowed.
We are facing an election this November too, and me and many other christians that we know are getting down on our knees and pleading with God to get this woman out of government before we lose all our freedoms.
I felt compelled to write this, because I was getting frustrated reading many of the blogs about Sarah Palin and whether or not it was right to vote for her and support her. When you are confused or under dilemma, think of the situation we have here in New Zealand. Be grateful to God, cry out and thank Him with all your heart that you have such a woman to vote for. As a caller to a talkback radio show said yesterday, "if only we had a Sarah Palin here in New Zealand."
Rachel,
Excellent post!
I read your post and just shuddered.... that could have been us... had Hilary won and I thank God each day it's not hilary that will be governing.
I am grateful Sarah Palin is in the front line.... I am thankful because she loves her nation, her family and most of all God.
She is a practicing Christian who lives her faith..... that does not mean of course that she is perfect.......
But who knows if "for such a time as this " she is appointed to be where she is at.
I for one can't wait to get to the polls to vote!!
Thank you, thank you! Excellent reminder and very well said. I am so sorry for what you have been through and will stand with you in prayer for change for your country.
A great rain fell, and the flood waters rose.
The police knocked at a mans door and told him they were evacuating everyone because the levy was going to break.
The man, in his pious arrogance said "I don't need you God will rescue me".
And the waters rose to the man's second story.
He stood in the upstairs window looking out.
A person came by in a boat and told him to jump in.
The man, in his pious arrogance said "I don't need you God will rescue me".
And the waters rose to the man's roof.
As he stood on the roof, on his tip toes, surrounded by water, a helicopter came to recuse him.
The man, in his pious arrogance said "I don't need you God will rescue me".
So the man died.
The man shakes his fist at God and says "I told everyone you would rescue me and you let me die.........what's that all about"
God said: I sent you a police man, a boat and a helicopter, what else did you want?
Those who want whine and moan about how horrid America is are the same ones that want to whine and moan that "she's a mom and needs to stay home therefore I am not going to vote". They are the same ones who "know it all" and have this direct line to God that no one else has, and they have the end all beat all RIGHT interpretation of Scripture.................
Hello Rachel! Nice to meet you, sort of! The talk about Sarah Palin is the biggest thing going on right now in the good ole USA that is true. On another site that I am on the ladies there nearly got out of hand (it is a "Christian" site) and the owner had to close the converstation. I abstained from the debate! I really leave the polotics to my husband, he tells me whom to vote for and I do, I know that sounds wimpy but I really believe that the men should be running the country (Eve was the one decieved not Adam) and I don't have very good judgement in these matters. I am sure that it will not be Obama however, that gets our vote!
Sounds like New Zealand is like America in the morals department, we don't have any, nationally that is, but we do still have some that are trying to hold on to the right way, the God-fearing way, for the Lord still does and always will have a remnant!
Thanks for letting me share.
My friends and I CAN'T WAIT to vote for Palin! We are so excited!!!!
I guess i haven't heard any of the riff-raff among other Christians against her yet, but I'm getting the idea from other blogs that it may be out there. WHAT are they thinking??? This is incredible!!!
I am very sorry for the position you're leadership is in at present. I pray it gets better in the coming elections. I agree with you that Sarah Palin is an excellent choice and really is a great candidate for the VP, but it goes against my faith in regards to the woman's place, especially because she is a Christian as well. I wasn't happy with Hilary, mostly because of her standards, but also because she is a woman, and I"m not happy with the same thing here in Palin's case.
A few Christians I know will be voting "Other:God" in the coming election and others are voting for the constitutional candidate. This was a very good and wise post about sarah palin and the election: http://joyfullyliving.blogspot.com/2008/09/my-prayer.html After, I posted my opinion on the matter, I read a post questioning if Christians should even be involved in politics. I had never really thought about this before. The whole idea of the people electing someone in charge is man's ways, not God's. God choose Saul and David to be king and the people were never involved in the process. As you look through the Bible you will find kings who were not after God's heart or laws and yet the people still weren't involved but we're expected to keep to His laws. I wonder if that is how it is now. Again, I never thought about this until now. Hmmm
I don't know how we got started with corn. I saw a informative clip the other day about how farmers are actually looking for cheaper ways than feeding corn, and are feeding potato chips and M&M's as well. >.<
It was pretty weird.
I think we have young, lean meat in the freezer. Because I did let my pan sit overnight (just 'cause I was busy) and there was maybe a teaspoon of fat drifting around on the liquid this morning? I couldn't believe it, I'm used to a sheet of fat across the whole top of the pan...
Oh, and thank you again for the oven mit and the lovely book. It's hard for me to use the mit. I really want to display the thing on my wall - I'm so wanting to protect it from stains and such! :)
Hi!
I didn't quite understand if you think its okay for a woman to be working or having authority over men. I think that Sarah Palin was called by God to be an example of a woman seeking God's heart. I didn't quite understand-lol!
Welcome to my blog. I'm glad you dropped in. I'm a wife and mum to 3 children. We are blessed to live in the beautiful South Sea islands of New Zealand, and I love to write about our life and the things we do on our homestead of 10 acres, our adventures with animals and homeschooling, and the little things that touch my life and those around me. I hope you'll enjoy visiting.
