Superbowl Sunday and other ramblings - 02:57, Sunday, February 4, 2007

So today is one of my husband's favorite day.  Superbowl Sunday.  He's a major sports nut!  We are having a party after church.  I elected to have it at my house so I wouldn't have to go out in the cold (today it was 0 degrees) when the game is over.  I can just go to bed!  Also, Alex will be able to go to sleep on time and not get cranky.  I really don't care about the game. I just like making the food and entertaining.

My husband and I have decided to start trying for baby #2.  We started back in November and wouldn't you know, my body started acting up!  I was having some issues and have been in contact with my doctor off and on.  So this month was going to be the last month before we pursuded more options  (medicine) to make me regular.  I've been taking OPK everday to see if I am ovulating and to my surprise, I finally did.  Now, it was about 20 days late but it did happen.  So now I'm in the 2 week wait and we'll see what happens.  Even if I don't get preggo, I'm still estactic that I got a positive OPK.  Now I feel confident telling my doctor that I don't want Clomid or any other drug right now.  It is so frustrating so realize that the whole process of getting pregnant is soooo complicated.  I never knew half the things I know now about the body!  I feel like a pro.

For tonight, I have made a chocolate fondue with strawberries, pineapple, pretzels, bananas for dipping.  I love that stuff.  I also have pizza rolls, chips, enchiladas, cookies and other fattening stuff.  I guess eating junk for one day won't kill me.  I'm still trying to lose 8 pounds to get to my goal weight.  I was doing weight watchers and got stuck at the 10 pound mark after losing 20.  So I quit going and on my own lost another 2 but can't seem to get past the 8 mark.  Maybe once everything thaws out I can get exercising more regularly.  Steve and I try to do the Gazelle (even though I hate that thing) every night while watching TV but I don't think it's helping.  I guess a little is better than nothing.

We also got our taxes done.  We get a refund for the first time since we've been married.  I'm so thrilled.  So we are going to save 1/2 of it and get a dresser and armoire for the TV with the other 1/2!  I love buying stuff.  I think I'm a shop aholic!

Snow, Snow, Snow - 06:27, Sunday, January 28, 2007

Well, I'm sitting home tonight and feel rather odd.  We are having a Lake Effect Snow "blizzard" and church was cancelled.  Actually, I'm a little relieved that I can stay in my nice warm house and not get cold and wet.  The snow is sooo pretty and graceful but after driving home from the mall today in it, I'm glad I can stay in.  So I guess I can finish the laundry I started last night and get ready for the week.

Last night (Saturday), Steve and I were going to have a "date" night.  Alex went to my parents to spend the night and we were off to dinner and a movie.  It was lightly snowing but as we kept going it was getting worse so we decided to stay in and rent a movie.  So we went to the local pizza joint and got pizza and a movie.  It was nice but I was really looking foward to eating at the Texal Roadhouse...I LOVE that place.  So I guess we'll have to go another time.  We ended up renting The Devil Wears Prada.  It was alright.  Actually, wasn't too bad with language etc.  A pretty clean movie.  Kinda cute.  It was so strange to go to bed without putting Alex asleep.  I actually missed him.  I can't imagine our lives without him.  I'm so thankful for him.  Even though I get a little stressed when he's tearing the house apart...I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Trying to Blog - 12:05, Friday, January 26, 2007

So, this is my first time "blogging".  After much persuasion from my friend Becky, I have decided to finally join the world of Blogs.

My name is Lisa and I'm the mother of an 18-month old boy named Alex.  My husband is Steve who is a youth pastor and works as a Loan officer also.  I was a Commercial Loan Officer until I had Alex so I kinda stay at home.  I'm working in my parent's business as the office mananger and do the bookkeeping for a local non-profit group.  I also teach piano lessons one day a week.  Alex comes to work with me 3 days a week and goes to a sitter 2 days a week.  I am very fortunate to have a lady in our church who a trust completely.  She used to watch me when I was little!  Anyway, I think I'm busier now then when I was working full-time.

I enjoy playing the piano, cooking, baking and couponing.  Actually, I get a "high" off of couponing.  It is the most fun thing every.  I belong to a site, The Grocery Game, and it's the best ever.  I usually don't spend over $70 and get $200 worth of food and items.  I look at it as my way of helping the family budget.  i never could stay in a food budget until now.  It takes a little time and dedication to clip and save all those coupons but it's well worth it.
