Red Envelope Day

Posted in Praying
Have you mailed your envelopes yet?  I haven't but I did just finish getting them all addressed.  We'll go buy some stamps when Baby wakes up from her morning nap and we've all had lunch.

Oh, you haven't heard of the Red Envelope Project?  Have you not been reading blogs for the last 6 weeks?  That was snarky- sorry.  Here's the official site.  And here is a great post from a young lady who seems to have her priorities in order.

There is still time to get at least one envelope in the mail today.  You can even make one yourself if you don't have one hanging around.  Either bust out the red paint/markers/crayons and white envelope or follow the instructions here with a sheet of red paper or card stock or wrapping paper.

Oh, and be sure to include your return address.  There is some confusion about whether mail without one will even make it to the White House or be destroyed before then.  I would hate to have totally wasted this time and I would hate for you to, too.

And if you can't get an envelope sent, please take time to pray.  For our president and his party and their priorities.  For God to work in the hearts of those who think it's acceptable or expedient or merciful or a RIGHT to take the life of the smallest and most innocent of human beings.  For a culture that so glorifies the physical act of sex and disconnects it so far from the bonds of marriage that it is unspeakable in some minds to suggest it be saved for anything or that its "products" are anything but "tissue."  Because prayer is far more powerful than any piece of mail.

on a slightly related note:  does anyone know why when I make a link in my post, I have to save the post, then go back and edit it to make the links actually WORK?  the program automagically inserts some java script code thingy (sorry for the technical jargon) and I have to go back and replace it.  what is UP with that??

Election- Shmelection!

Posted in Praying
I had the great fun this morning of breaking the election news to my children.  They were appalled- I do believe they truly thought Chuck Baldwin would be our next president.  After all, how could the nation go against their parents' wishes?  I hope they don't get any bright ideas about their own obedience   They asked me, "Who did WE vote for??"  as if my husband and I were solely responsible for Barack Obama's election :)

Now my responsibility is to pray daily (at least!) for our new president's safety, repentance and obedience to God's word.  We have discussed God's gracious allowance for free will and how He allows us to make decisions that might not be in our best interest in the short run.  We also talked about how ALL things work together for good to them that trust HIM.  We'll continue to converse on the subject for a long time, I'm sure.

TH asked if he would be old enough to vote in the next election, as if he could straighten this mess out if only he could cast his vote

We now return you to your regularly scheduled prattle about recipes and hairbows.  Thanks for stopping by.

Please pray...

Posted in Praying
...for my father-in-law.  He had a heart attack this morning and we're being told that the doctors are not currently able to remove any of the blockage because there is just too much.  My husband's family is all there but we are very far away.

Thank you,
Lindsey
