Wednesday March 26, 2008

First of all, happy birthday to our oldest nephew RWM!!  He turns 11 years old today which is just unfathomable as he was a mere 6 or 7 months old when I met his uncle and consequently him :)  His sister was just a few years old (it was at her third birthday party that I realized that my Beloved was my Beloved and not just "some guy.") and now she is a bona fide young lady.  Astounding!  You can't turn your back on these children for a minute or you'll turn back around and they'll be grown.

Anyway, for today I have plenty of work to do.  I got my hooded towel made last night but Beloved and I forgot to put it in the truck to go to work today.  So it's still in the dining room.  I will call the customer today to let her know that it has indeed been finished so she doesn't think I am a slacker.  Thankfully she is also a friend and will be forgiving of my forgetfulness (I hope!)

I have laundry to do (as usual).  I am trying to get one load done each day with one big laundry day per week in addition to the daily loads.  I can wait for a nice sunny, dry day for the big washing and then even if it rains all week, at least I won't be dreadfully far behind.  I can manage to hang one load per day around inside the house (except for sock and undies which just go in the dryer if it's raining) on my drying rack and on hangers in the living room around the wood stove or in the bathroom on the curtain rod.  And, no, diapers do not count for the daily load.  They're a separate entity altogether.

I would like to get into the sewing room again and clean it up (right now it looks a bit like a fabric store vomited all over it.  Not a pretty mental image, I'm sure.  I thought about taking a photo of it to post here but that's even more sickening than the above description.  So I'll leave it to your imaginations.  I have a nighty for MJ 2/3 finished.  I need to figure out how to put some growth tucks in since I cut out the size 5 and didn't shorten it at all.  I am making it sleeveless so with some tucks it should last several years.  She likes to wear her clothes to death so I want to help her with that.  I'd like to make up a few little things for the Etsy shop (I think I said that yesterday) and I need to get started on another shirt for Beloved's work friend.  The muslin process is done now but I am undecided about fabric.  There's so little to choose from for men's shirting and I am quite frustrated.    I'd also like to start on my new nephew's baby quilt.  July seems like forever away but before I know it it'll be July of 2015 and he'll be too big for it.  I want to start now before he's born to give him a chance to use it before then.  Since I am hand piecing this one I just need to get some of it cut out so I can start doing that in the evenings.  It won't take long to get started, it's just a matter of doing it.  Then there's my mom's birthday gift, yet to be finished.  It's amazing how the enthusiasm for a project wanes after the gift has been presented, even if it's not yet finished.

I never did get bread started yesterday as I realized that the biga needs 12-14 hours (rather than 24 as I originally misread) so it really must be started around dinner time.  I am leaving my bag of flour for that out on the counter in a mixing bowl to jog my memory.  I have no idea what's for dinner tonight.  I should think about that as well so I can pull something to thaw.  We had tacos last night and they were smashing even without lettuce and tomato.  It's amazing the difference homemade salsa makes in the most mundane meals.

In reality, I will probably spend most of the day engrossed in my new book (thanks for that, Dad!)  I have absolutely no willpower when it comes to an interesting book.  Never have had.  I've been toting this one all around the house and trying to convince the baby to nurse far more often than she needs to, just so I have an excuse to sit down.

We need to do a little extra in the lessons department today as AC had his first migraine yesterday (just like his daddy ) and we were unable to finish yesterday's in the early evening as I had planned.  We probably won't actually double up on anything; we just need to be sure and finish all of our subjects properly.  I imagine we could get that done better if Mama gets off the computer so...

Missed your blog girl, so glad to see you again!

Hope AC is feeling better, poor baby.

Good luck on the diet thing and congrats on what you've lost so far! Wow! You have it right. That's how I've been told to figure all that as well. About 3500 cal loss either by diet or exercise (ideally both, lol) will lose a pound a week, and at that rate and if I can keep working at it, I might be somewhat resembling before-baby self in a year, rofl! Yeah...and my youngest is almost 5...how depressing I'm still lugging around more weight than I had for either birth.

Easter pics are just beautiful! Love the bright eyes and happy faces of that group! :-D
