Election- Shmelection!

Posted in Praying
I had the great fun this morning of breaking the election news to my children.  They were appalled- I do believe they truly thought Chuck Baldwin would be our next president.  After all, how could the nation go against their parents' wishes?  I hope they don't get any bright ideas about their own obedience   They asked me, "Who did WE vote for??"  as if my husband and I were solely responsible for Barack Obama's election :)

Now my responsibility is to pray daily (at least!) for our new president's safety, repentance and obedience to God's word.  We have discussed God's gracious allowance for free will and how He allows us to make decisions that might not be in our best interest in the short run.  We also talked about how ALL things work together for good to them that trust HIM.  We'll continue to converse on the subject for a long time, I'm sure.

TH asked if he would be old enough to vote in the next election, as if he could straighten this mess out if only he could cast his vote

We now return you to your regularly scheduled prattle about recipes and hairbows.  Thanks for stopping by.

Ive also had extensive converstions with my children that even tho we didnt vote for Obama and dont agree with him we must pray for him as we would have the one we voted for. I read them of David and how he was toward King Saul even tho Saul was in the wrong. God places Kings (presidents) in leadership and we must respect thier office. I also related to them about parents. They dont always like what I do but because Im thier mom they must honor me as God says. (of course I really do have their best interest at heart )

I also explained tho we dont have to back down on what we believe is right, we just should disrespect the man as a man. make sense ?

***Makes perfect sense. I think we'll be reading about David and Saul during our lessons today. Thanks for the idea! Blessings! Lindsey***

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - Obama

My 6 yo and I had a long discussion about how while we didn't vote for Mr Obama enough other people did that he would be our new president and that we should pray for him and that we had to remember that God is Sovereign and is in control. He always has a plan even if we don't understand it!
But I'm secretly worried - and trying not to be!

Oh, I am so glad to see that someone besides me voted for the Constitution Party (Chuck Baldwin). My children too were appauled but we have gone over the verses 1 Timothy 2:1-4 and we are all prepared to pray for those in authority and pray for God's mercy.

Blessings,
Trixi

We are to pray for those in authority over us.. and Obama is there because God allows it.... He is still sovereign........now it's time to pray that God will touch Obama's heart and send men like Daniel to be beside him to influence him in godly ways.
May God forgive us for our sins,
gloria

Yes, we will all be praying for our country... praying for Obama's Salvation. Eli was quite upset this morning when I broke the news to him also.
Love,
Chas
