I'll try to start where we left off from our last entry...
Cedar Point was great. We drove there on a Saturday and spent Saturday in the park. We had a hotel room at the Hotel Breakers hotel, that was just walking distance from the park, so that was great. Lilli isn't tall enough for the big roller coasters, but she can ride the scrambler, spider, Himalaya and other such rides. There were a couple smaller roller coasters she could ride and she and Lance had a wonderful time on all of them. We all rode the ferris wheel, the paddle boat and the needle. We would have rode the train, but we just didn't make it over there. We spent all day there and left in a hurry when it hit 8PM. It's their Halloweekends in September, and it got a little spooky for Lilli when it started getting late. We even had to find an alternate walking route to our hotel because there was some scary side-show set up right at the entrance we needed to the hotel. We ended up putting Lilli in the stroller and I carried the baby and we walked all the way across the park to the other entrance.
The girls felt great while there, but they've been passing a cold back and forth since school started. The Dr put them on Zithro when I took them in on Sept 27. Then Lilli got a fever on Oct 1 and her cough just wouldn't let up. Then Lauren's cold got worse and by Oct 4 she was having a hard time breathing. That night, Lance and I decided to take her to the ER because she seemed to be gasping for breath. They admitted her for Croup. Her airways were restricted and that was why she couldn't catch her breath. They did breathing treatments and oral steroids. I don't think the breathing treatments helped much, but the oral steroids seemed too. They kept her in the hospital for 2 days. She came home Saturday. It was a long 2 days. Lilli went to school on Friday as it was Grandparent's Day and she was really looking forward to that. Then she went home early with mom and dad because she was tired from being up late Thursday night. She spent Friday night with them and Lance spent Friday at the hospital with Lauren and I.
That about covers us. The girls are feeling better, thank goodness. Mom and dad bought vaporizers for their rooms and that really seemed to help.
Lauren still has a little cough, and Lilli coughs if she does any physical activity, but they are doing good for the most part.
Lilli has quit Awana for the time being. It's just too late for her on a Wednesday night. I love the program, and maybe she can do it next year, but it's just not working out for her this year.
That leaves Acro as her only after-school commitment right now. We love Acro and it works great for us. Lance watches Lauren while I take Lilli. Then Lilli and I go to the nearby park after Acro and play with her friends, Emma and Clay for an hour while I sit and chat with their mom, Jeni. Emma and Clay have an Acro class that starts an hour after Lilli's gets over, so it works out great. If it's raining or cold, then we just go and hang-out at the McDonald's instead of the park.
Lilli has her first field trip tomorrow. I am going to 'chaperonne'
Our Subaru lease is up next month (YAY!). They have to 'inspect' it before we can turn it in and that costs us $350~! Isn't that a crock?! Anyway, we'll be glad to turn it in and not have that payment anymore. We have our Honda that's paid for. It's older, but I love it...it gets good gas mileage and did I mention it's PAID FOR! LOL
We went and looked at a house the other day. We weren't really thinking of selling or moving, but we really liked this house. It's an Amish house. The Amish have all left the area and moved back to Indiana so all their homes are up for sale. The one we like is an old farm house that had electricity back 100 years ago when it was built. The Amish never used the electricity though, and now there isn't even a pole or transformer heading to the house. There is a septic and well but we don't know what shape they are in. I love the layout of the house though, even with all the work it would need.
The property is a dream for us. It has 20 acres and 4 outbuildings. Plenty of pasture and then a field for growing hay and another area for growing corn for feed. It was great. A few apple trees, and even some grape vines.
We are now thinking about selling our place. Even if we don't get the 'Amish place', we'd like to lower our mortgage payment and property taxes. It would take us until at least the spring to be ready to put our place on the market, if we even do it. If the Amish place is still for sale if/when we sell our place, then we'll put a bid in on it, if not, then we'll look for something else.
