On your mark, get set, GO! (Lauren's crawling contest)

Here we are at the starting line. Babies raced 4 at a time, in 7 heats, then had a 'crawl off' to determine the first, second and third places.

Go Lauren! She was the only baby to even LEAVE the starting line. LOL Well on her way to winning her first heat.
She stopped just before the finish line and I had to give her a 'puffy' treat so she'd crawl another 2 inches. LOL

YAY for Lauren! Our little crawler!

Here we are at the start of the 'crawl off'. There was a mishap or Lauren could have won, I think. The baby on Lauren's left cut Lauren off and sat down in front of her after she started crawling toward me. So Lauren stopped and started crying. That same baby crawled over to the mom laying across the lane on Lauren's right, and that baby stood up on that mom and got disqualified. At that point Lauren just started crying so I picked her up and called it good. The baby in the orange won third place. The first and second places had already finished when this picture was taken.

Here are the girls at mom and dad's after the "big" race. Lilli is showing one of Lauren's goodies that she received just for entering the contest. She got two big bags of misc baby and child items just for signing up.

Note Lauren's little pony tail in her hair...LOL. That is her first one.

It was already hot at 10 in the morning, so we were ready to come home when it was over.

Our week went by fast, we had something to do everyday it seems. Then Lilli got a cold and we took a day or two off to rest. Lilli is feeling better now, but Lauren is sick. We were supposed to meet some friends at the zoo but we cancelled today. :( Lauren was up most of the night. She's congested and coughing and just miserable. She had a fever last night, but seems ok today.

Lance had a nice trip fishing in Canada, and brought home some fish for us. Lilli's been asking for a fish fry, but I think he's had his fill of fish for awhile. LOL. We told her we'd have it one day next week.

We are supposed to go to Michigan's Adventure on Wednesday. I hope Lauren is feeling better by then.

Sunday and Monday night we are going to be at the Great Wolf Lodge...I highly suggest that place if you have kids of any age!

One week after that we are going to Cedar Point for two nights.

It seems like a lot, but we just saved all the big stuff for the end of summer I guess.

I'll post when I can, it seems busy around here lately. The computer has been used for Webkinz most of the time these days. Those little things are addicting! LOL. Lilli loves them and we have fun buying them rooms and rasing a garden for them. If you have kids I highly suggest checking out Webkinz.com. I suggest checking it out even if you don't have kids! LOL

The girls go for a car ride...

Lilli and Lauren going for a ride in Lilli's car.
I know some kids don't get much use out of their toys, but that is so not true for Lilli. She got this car from my parent's for her first birthday, and she is now 6 years old and still plays with it. LOL
Lauren LOVED her ride and laughed the entire time. I kept asking if she was too heavy, but Lilli kept saying no and that she wanted to keep going.
Lauren and spaghetti. Enough said:

I took this tonight after we got home. I guess I wore her out doing chores. I had no idea she was so tired. I was doing dishes and she was next to me in the high chair. I looked over and this is what I saw:

Lance is fishing in Canada for the week, so it's just the girls and I this week. Lilli is spending the night with my parents, so it's just Lauren and I tonight. She is zonked out on the futon mattress that we STILL have on the floor in the computer room. We had it there for our sleepover the other night, and we just left it there for now.

Clay is going to spend the night tomorrow night (as is his mommy). Emma is going on a sleepover someplace else. Lilli and Clay play great together, so it should be a nice time.

Lilli has dance camp Mon-Tue-Wed this week. It's for two hours, from noon-2PM those three days. She is very excited. Alyssa is taking the class, as is Meghan, Lance's cousin's daughter. I think it will be a lot of fun for them.

Clay is staying over tomorrow night, and Emma and Clay both are staying Wednesday night. We plan to go to South Haven once or twice this week to visit with my Aunt Joyce who is here visiting from Arizona this week.

This weekend is the Blueberry Festival in South Haven. I plan to enter Lauren in the 'diaper dash' this year. It should be fun, even if we don't win. She is really getting around now, but I don't know how she'll do against other babies since she only just started crawling these last couple weeks.

That about covers our plans for the week. It's awful lonely around here without Lance. I'll be glad when he gets home.

Lilli's first sleepover!

Isn't that a great picture?
Lilli taught them how to climb the walls. Clay didn't have room to get on so he just posed for the picture while Emma told me she didn't think she could hold on long. LOL

Emma and Clay are very good friends of ours. We met them through our playgroup when Lilli was 2 years old. Emma is a year older than Lilli, and Clay is a year younger. Jeni, their mom, is a teacher at the school where Lilli will attend.
We had a great sleepover. The kids got here about 2PM Wednesday and they just played and played. It was too hot to play outside, so they played indoors. Then we all went out and helped Lance with chores in the evening, so they could see the animals. That was very entertaining actually. Emma is a 'girly-girl' and was NOT impressed at all by any of the animals. LOL. She spent her time looking at her feet in the cow pasture trying not to step in cow poop while telling Lilli to slow down. It was so funny. Then there was Clay. Clay didn't even want to wear his shoes down there (I did convince him that it was a good idea). Then he wanted to help Lance with everything from dumping the feed to filling the water. He had a blast with the animals, unlike his sister. LOL
They stayed up until about 11:30PM watching a movie and then putting Lilli's Webkinz to bed (on the computer). Then Clay zonked right out, but the girls didn't drop until about 12:30ish. We had pulled our futon mattress out into the computer room floor and they slept on that.
Today we had chocolate and biscuits for breakfast and then we played and went to the Coloma McDonald's to play at the playland. Jeni had a dentist appt just up the road from there so I sat with the kids while she went. I had one tired little girl by the time we finally left there.

We came home and just hung out a bit. It was still very hot, so Lilli mostly played with her Webkinz (did I mention how addicting those things are?) while I made supper.
Here are a couple pictures from the other day. They were taken while we had the house torn apart working on Lilli's room. I was pulling the girls around in a tub with Papa's belt hooked to it. I stopped them to take a picture and they fell over backwards. It was so funny. Lauren didn't know what happened. Neither got hurt since it was so low to the floor anyway.

We have a birthday party in Kentwood on Saturday and then no 'set' plans for the rest of the week. Jeni, Emma, and Clay are all going to spend the night one night (or two), but we aren't sure which nights yet. I'd like to head to the zoo if we get a nice non-hot day.

I'll have to stick pretty close to home as I'll be doing the farm chores while Lance is away. There aren't TOO many to do, but what does need done, needs done daily.

Pigs need fed twice a day.
Cows need fed and watered once a day.
Front pastured goats need hay once a day (as they've eaten their pasture down).
Dogs (Great Pyrs), cats, and chickens all need fed and watered once a day.

I think that's all unless I count watering the garden, but that's not really a chore. Weeding needs done, but I've been slacking there, as always at this time of the year.

We had meatloaf, boiled potatoes from Tom's, and corn on the cob (also from Tom's) for supper tonight. Yummy!

Have a good night everybody!

Tomorrow will find us making a baked spaghetti for Lance's Canada trip and just doing some minor packing and such. He leaves early Saturday morning and will be gone until next week Saturday.
