My ultrasound today...

I thought it was ok, but now I'm not so sure.

The details...

By their measurements my due date is November 2, I had figured Oct 30 (going by LMP).

They were able to see the baby, and measured the heart rate at 106 bpm.

My fibroid is still present, but on the small side at 2CM, it was 5CM when I had my DD 4 1/2 years ago.

Now I wasn't really worried until the tech talked with the Dr and came back with news (I didn't have a Dr appt, just a US, so this was normal).  They want to do another transvaginal ultrasound next week Wednesday.  They didn't mention why, and I assumed at the time it was because of my history (2 miscarriages before I had DD).

They also thought it was a good idea for me to go on Progesterone shots.  They had told me that it wasn't really necessary, or I would have gone on them 2 weeks ago when I first learned of my pregnancy.

So I had my first shot today.  I'll get one per week until I reach 12 weeks.

I hope they are just doing everything as a precaution because of my history.  I am worried now that they may suspect something, since they ordered the ultrasound.  They don't just give those ultrasounds freely.

DH and DD were able to attend and it was a pleasant experience for all of us (my worry set in later).

DD's name of 'Spotty' certainly fits our little spot.  We have a picture and it really is a little spot.  DD is thrilled and tells everybody about Spotty.

After the ultrasound, DD asked to see my belly.  I said ok, not sure why she was asking.  She asked how they closed my belly up without an owie.  She thought they had opened my belly to get the pictures.  Bless her heart, she was worried about my 'owie'.  (The gown covered my lower body so she didn't really know what was going on down there).

She wanted to hold my hand while I got the Progesterone shot and was very impressed with the sparkly band-aid the nurse put on.  The shot was done on the upper right side of my backside.  We went to my parent's house afterwards and she told me to take my pants down and show Peepa my band-aid.  LOL.  Dad thought it was funny.  I didn't actually do it, he just thought it was funny that she told me to.  LOL.

In other news....

The dog catcher called me again yesterday to update me on the neighbor dog situation.  He'd been there twice and the owner is never home so he can't issue a citation for the dogs being in my yard (until he catches the owner at home).  The dogs are up to date on their rabies and licenses, so that was good news.  The black dog is old and only has about two teeth, so it must have been the brown one that actually bit our RC.  The black one may not have teeth, but he is the more aggressive of the two.  He growls at me almost every time he sees me.

The dog catcher thinks the dogs will be tied up from now on.

In yet other news...

DH is working on a feeder for our kidding pen.  We have two nice stalls that both open into the same yard area (we rotate the yard use if we have kids different ages or various other reasons).  We currently have hay feeders inside the stalls, but DH is building a feeder to put out in the yard area.  He feels it will help the does get more exercise if they have to get up and go outside to eat.  We plan to move our two expecting does into that pen soon.  They are due in April and we want to start them on more grain than they are getting now.  It's hard to feed them separate when they are out in the field with the other girls.  It's time for them to get some special attention anyway.  They are looking quite round these days.

I love kidding season.  I love the excitement of waiting to see how many kids, and what colors.  The Boer colors are obvious, but we have a Nubian expecting and you just never know what colors you will get!  I'll be sure and get pictures to post on here when that time comes.  I love looking at pictures on everybody else's blogs, so I hope to add a few of my own.

I hope you are all having a good week so far.

Hugs,
Lisa

Don't worry

I HATE it when the Dr and nurse(s) seem so secretive - but it usually turns out that they're trying not to alarm you - little do they know how MUCH it alarms us!! Right?

After our 1st daughter, Jessica, died (at 3 months from SIDS), I had 2 miscarriages before our other 2 darling daughters (Jasper and Jenna) were born. With your history, I would say that that's all they're looking at and are just taking procautions w/the shots. IF there were anything to worry about at this early date, they would have you off of your feet immediately - been there, done that.

So, just take a deep breath, let your "big baby" rub your belly and talk to the "itty baby" and enjoy the up-coming kidding season!

Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><
