I called animal control...

Well, after our ordeal yesterday, I called animal control.  I got a nice gentleman who took my name, number and addy, and said that an officer would call me back.  He said, "We WILL take care of this for you". 

I haven't heard from anybody yet.  I'll call again on Monday.

I took RC to the vet yesterday afternoon.  He was bleeding from a puncture wound on his backside and I couldn't tell how bad it was.  The vet shaved the area and cleaned it.  There are two puncture wounds, one pretty deep.  The vet said those are where the teeth went in.  He is black and blue all over his hind quarters.  Poor baby. 

The vet put him on antibiotics (10 days) and pain killers (3 days)...we have to clean his wound with peroxide several times a day.

He's a little sore, but doing well.  He's a bit traumatized and jumpy, but I'm sure he'll get over that.

I think we are lucky that DD and I were right at the window and saw the dogs before it even happened.  I have no doubt that they would have killed them if I hadn't intervened. 

I went out today and took pictures of dog tracks in my drive way, the markings on the ground where the attack happened (claw marks and just an obvious site of an attack).  I also took a picture of dog poop that is too big to be from our dog.  I know that's gross.  I just don't want anybody to doubt that it happened here in our yard, or that the dogs were trespassing.

I saved the vet bill and the mileage was 50 miles round trip.  I do not expect to be reimbursed, but if I have to push my case, I do have those to use.

I just want those dogs under control.  I can't have mean dogs in our yard...what if it had been my daughter?  :(

We are dealing with something similar, however, the animal control officer I called was a crazy guy. He gave us some very off the wall advice, and now I am still concerned about my pets and my daughter as well. Let me know how it goes.
