New Year's Resolutions...

1. Exercise 3x per week

2. Organize the house, room by room

3. Eat Healthier

4. Eat out twice per month, or less

5. Family Fun Activity twice monthly (bowling, skating, etc)

6. Lose weight (which I hope to accomplish with numbers 1 and 3, but thought I should add it to the list).

7. Blog weekly (hopefully daily, but sometimes that's not possible).

Homeschool Goals...

Start Advanced Kindergarten and finish sometime in the summer...preferably schooling through summer, but with time off for beach days and visits with friends.

Start 1st grade in the fall, August or September, and be on target when the holidays come so we can take time off from Thanksgiving to New Year's.  Maybe not the entire time, but not be pressured during that busy season.

I'd like to do all this by schooling 1-3 hours per day, 4 days per week.  DD5 spends one night per week with her grandparent's and we'd like to continue that.

We've had a nice start to the new year.  After a nice New Year's Eve at home, we spent New Year's Day at my parent's house playing games.  DH stayed home to do a few projects around here...cutting wood and installing a new toilet in our guest bathroom (I didn't expect that!).  At my parent's, my niece and DD5 and a nice time playing together while us adults played Trivial Pursuit 80's Edition, and Mad Gab.  Both are very fun games.

Baby was extra fussy, with a few screaming fits thrown in.  I'm not sure if it is/was her thrush or her tummy bothering her.  I feel so bad when there is nothing I can do for her.  :(

I was worried about how she'd sleep last night, but she really did good.  She fussed most of the evening after we got home, but then she went to sleep about 10PM and slept until 3:30 this morning...5 1/2 hours is great for her, especially with the thrush and the fact that she's only nursing on one side at a time most times.  She then slept from 3:30 until 6:30.  She had an awake time and now she's napping again.  I'll wake her at 9:30 if she doesn't wake on her own by then.  I don't like her to go longer than 3 hours between feedings during the day...I think that's how she keeps her days and nights straight.

We had a big milestone for DD5 last night.  She slept in her own bed by herself all night!  I know this doesn't sound like a big deal really, since she's 5 1/2 years old, but she has been sleeping with us since she was about 3 years old.  We haven't ever forced the issue with her, but we are very proud of her for conquering her fear of the dark.  We left the hall light on, and her horse lights (they are like party lights).  Her room was lit up like a Christmas tree...but I still told her we could turn on her bedroom light if she wanted too.  She did fine with the hall/horse lights and slept in there all night!  She just got up about 8:30 this morning, and she is so proud of herself!  LOL.  I think it helps that I'm sleeping in the nursery with baby, and that's right across the hall from her bedroom.  Our master bedroom is across the house.

Anyway, we'll have to see if this trend continues...

On the agenda today...typical housecleaning, organizing of one kitchen cupboard (more if there's time), laundry, dishes and supper prep.

I have Bunco tonight and I'll take Baby with me...DH and DD5 are going to the movies while I'm gone...I think they are going to see Happy Feet, but they might change their mind and see Charlotte's Web instead.

We are very lucky to have a cheap theater near us...it's about 20 minutes away and it only costs $4 per person and you get free popcorn and soda (you do have to buy their reusable bucket for 75 cents..we have several).  We try to go to all the kid's movies that are released, as it's a nice cheap family activity, and DD5 loves to go to the movies.  I'm limited right now though, as I can't stay away from baby for very long at a time...I nurse and am not able to pump, so it's just me at feeding time...

Happy New Year everybody!
