Holiday stress...

{ 08:23, 2006-Dec-18 } { 0 comments } { Link }

I guess I'm not really stressed out, just a little ready to be done with the hustle and bustle of the holiday preparations.  I pretty much finished my shopping yesterday.  It wouldn't hurt to pick DH a little something else, and of course DD5 could always use a few more things.  I just feel like there is so much to do and so little time.  Presents to wrap, cards to send, what if the gifts I ordered online don't arrive in time, what if I miscalculated my balance in the checking, what if what if what if.  I just want to enjoy the holidays without all the worry.

Now that being said, I LOVE the holidays.  Usually I am not so worried about everything, so I think it's just the added stress of having a new baby in the house.  Lack of sleep, and worry about something being wrong with the baby (I am paranoid about something being wrong with my girls...).

I have the living room floor full of presents ready to wrap today.  The cards/newsletters are almost ready to be sent out, I just have a few more to address.  DD5 spent the night with my parents last night, so I can wrap a few of hers today as well.

I am awaiting 3 different shipments of gifts.  Two were supposed to arrive last Thursday.  It has me a little worried.  We always run into problems because we don't have a mailbox at our physical address...we use a PO Box.  I'm not sure why this is a problem with some deliveries and not others, but we always seem to have something that gets sent back as 'undeliverable'.  I even try to put both addresses on the item (physical and PO Box), but one always gets cut off and we still miss something.

I guess if they don't arrive today I'll start calling and figure out where they are.

My dad is so funny.  He collects knives and looks forward to the holidays when he is going to get one.  He circled 3 knives that he wanted out of his knife catalog.  My mom ordered him one early as it was a limited edition.  I ordered the other two (one from mom, one from us).  Well, the other day I told dad that I was going to get him some new house shoes as his old ones are so worn out.  I told him I needed to know what size he wanted so he'd be happy with them.  I never thought about the knives, I was getting him both, so it never crossed my mind what he was thinking.  My mom said he got home and said he didn't think his daughter was going to be getting him his 'cheetah' for Christmas.  LOL.  She said he was feeling pretty sad and sorry for himself.  She asked him if he was sure and he told her that yes, he was sure since I had asked him what size to get for shoes.  LOL.  Poor dad.  I plan to put the knife in the toe of his shoe so that when he tries it on he will be surprised to find it in there.

I bought my inlaws and my mom a Magic Bullet blender/juicer thing and my mom bought me one.  LOL.  I really wanted one, as I hope to make most of my own baby food when that time comes and it looks like it will be good for that.  We'll see.  We also like smoothies, so we should use it quite often.

DH bought his own gift and then wants me to wrap it.  LOL.  He wanted a pair of boots and he found them at the store the other day so he picked them up...I guess I'll wrap them for him.  Men, LOL.

DD5 is very excited about Christmas this year and I can't wait to watch her on Christmas morning.  I bought the baby a few things to wrap as DD5 would be offended if Santa didn't bring anything for the baby.  LOL.  It's hard to find things for an infant...she is too small for toys, but I bought a few teethers and a toy thing that goes across the bar of the car seat.  I think she'll like that.

Baby slept another 6 hours last night, that's 3 nights in a row.  I think that is our new schedule for now.  Hopefully she'll just extend that a  little each week or so.  I'm certainly not complaining...I think 6 hours is great for a 7 week old.

I'm off to finish addressing envelopes and start wrapping gifts.

Have a great day!
