One step forward, two steps back...

Well, after a 6 hours stretch of sleep the night before last, she decided she needed to eat every 3 hours last night.

Last evening was much the same as the day before.  Very VERY fussy baby and she nursed every 2 hours, 6PM, 8PM, and 10PM.  She dropped off to sleep at 10 and slept until 1AM, then dropped off (easily falling asleep) until 4AM..she was awake for awhile at 4, and went back to sleep at 5:30AM and woke at 8AM to eat.  I could hardly keep her awake to eat a full meal and she went back to sleep fairly quickly after her meal.  It's now 10:20 and she has been asleep for over an hour.  I'll wake her to eat at 11 and keep her on a 3 hour schedule during the day (2 1/2 if she wakes on her own).

I did just read that maybe she doesn't need to eat at night...that maybe she just wants to be around people.  Tonight I plan to try and just hold and cuddle her when she wakes during the night and see if she drops right back off to sleep.  I suspect she will, as she has been hard to keep awake for a full meal when I feed her at night.  If she doesn't just drop off to sleep, then I'll go ahead and feed her.

I am at a loss as to what to do about our evenings.  Starting at about 7ish, she is fussy, won't sleep unless I'm holding her, wants to nurse (comfort nursing?) all the time...I'm still hoping it's a growth spurt, but it's been 3 days now and I'm not sure how long they last.

Baby talk will probably take over my blog for awhile...it's mostly for my own sanity.  I like to keep track of her routines and behaviour and this is the easiest way to do that.

DH has been taking care of the animals and they seem to be doing well.  The chickens are enjoying the bare ground again (our snow melted) and the goats are always out and about.

Our Great Pyr puppies are getting BIG and I think they might have barked at my mom when she got here yesterday...it could have been coincidence though, they usually only bark at each other.  LOL  I figure one started running toward her car and the other barked at him for it.  Ah well, it's a start.

Most of my Christmas shopping is done now.  I just have a few more things to pick up at Wal-mart.  I'll do that when I get groceries this weekend.  Mostly kid things as I've ordered everybody else's online.  Love the online shopping.

On a very sad note, my great Aunt Claudia died Tuesday, December 12.  She had a kidney removed a couple months ago, and they determined that she needed to have a tumor removed from the tube leading away from that kidney (the tube was still inside her).  Apparently the tumor was on a vein (I'm not sure of the details).  She bled to death while in surgery.  This was very unexpected, it was supposed to be an easier procedure than when she had her kidney removed.  It has been quite a blow for everybody, especially her husband.  They are older, and that always carries some risk when having surgery, but again, after her successful operation last time, the risks seemed small this time.  I loved her dearly and feel enormous guilt that she didn't get to meet little Lauren.  She wanted to see her so bad and I just didn't get there (it's an hour drive, one way).  I cannot even begin to tell how bad I feel about it.  I'm so sad.

We don't yet know when the funeral will be, I figure Saturday, but I could be wrong.  I first thought Friday, but I think they would have announced that by now if that were the case.

My prayers are with Uncle Ernie, they'd been together since their teens, and they are in their 80's now.  That's a long time to be with one person.  He is very blessed with a close family...his children are very nearby and visit often, so that makes me feel better.  Uncle Ernie also lives right next door to his step-mother, who is nearing 90 years old so they'll be able to keep each other company.

DD has Ballet tonight and I hope to take her to her book club.  We went monthly last year, but haven't yet gone this year.  She enjoys it and she gets a free book out of it.  It's really a nice program... they sing a song, they read a story, and DD gets a free copy, then they do a craft and have a snack.  This is all free.  It's only for kids up to Kindergarten, but because we homeschool, we can still go until DD turns 6.  I'll be sad when we're done...

We used to have book club in the mornings, but they changed it to evenings this year.  I prefer mornings.  Evenings are just too busy for us and I'm not sure we'll always be able to go.

I hope to leave Baby with DH tonight so DD5 and I can just go...but we'll have to see how Baby is doing...it falls right in the middle of her fussy time.

Well I've rambled on and on.  Baby is sleeping and DD5 is doing a craft.  We want to practice cartwheels before baby wakes so we are going to do that now...

Hugs!
