Weekend Accomplishments...

{ 09:22, 2006-Jan-29 } { 1 comments } { Link }

Well, it has been a very productive weekend around here.

Friday night DH and I just hung out here at home.  We watched the movie Sphere on TV, which we had seen before, but couldn't quite remember the details of.  We both love Sci-Fi, so we spend a lot of time watching Sci-Fi movies.

Saturday morning DH went to pick up a load of hay for the steers.  While he was gone, I cleaned out the chicken coop.  Not the most pleasant job, but not too bad.  I didn't have the best straw the last time I cleaned it out (in the fall), so I used hay.  I do not plan to use hay again.  LOL.  It is not near as nice as straw when used for litter.

One of my Auracanas just started to lay...so that means I should have about 4 more starting to lay soon.  Such a cute little egg...bright blue/green.  I am very excited about it, as we hatched this batch from our own Auracanas and had one of our banty's raise the babies.  I love it when we raise our own.  :)

The chickens gave us 4 eggs today.  We'd been averaging 2 or 3.  Horrible I know...we have a lot of chickens (4 RIR hens, 4 Auracana Hens, 4 Auracana Pullets, 1 Barred Rock Pullet) to only get 3 eggs a day.  Daylight hours are few and weather is yucky, but still.  Hopefully they are on the upswing now though.  :)

We spent the afternoon around the house, not doing much of anything.  It was nice to have a lay-low day.  DH doesn't get many of those.

Today we went shopping. DH wanted to go to Barnes and Noble and look for a Diesel Fuel magazine.  They didn't have it, so he ordered it online when we got  back home.

We picked up a Sunday Paper on the way to town, and after seeing more great sales at Meijer, we headed there.  I was so happy.  I am not sure what is up with this stock up feeling I have, but I am going with it!

Anywho, I spent $80 at Meijer and saved $52.  I thought that was pretty good!  Almost everything I bought was on sale.  Cottage Cheese (I needed it for the Lasagna I'm making tomorrow), and Lettuce (for the taco salad on Tuesday) were the only things not on sale.  Even DH was impressed with the sales today.

I figured it out...everybody has such great sales because of the Super Bowl!  LOL

We have a busy week planned.

Tomorrow morning DD's Family Links Lady comes to work with her for an hour or so.

Tuesday we are heading to the Children's Museum about 20 minutes away.  We have a membership, so it's free admission.  SIL and her DD are meeting us there.  The girls will have a great time playing together.

Wednesday we have Playgroup in the morning and then a visit with my parents.

Thursday we are driving an hour away to visit with some elderly relatives.

Friday is pretty open.  DD spends that night with my parents.

Saturday is open and Sunday we have a baby shower.

I may have wrote this schedule already...I can't remember :)

On the homeschooling...DD is so smart and LOVES school.  I am currently just doing a pre-school curriculum I found online.  I plan to use Christian Liberty and they don't have a pre-school curriculum.

Anywho, DD isn't really learning anything right now.  She knows all her letters and sounds, and that is what this curriculum focuses on.

Christian Liberty offers a regular Kindergarten and an Advanced one.  I hope to get DD through both of them, to better prepare her for first grade.  I would like her to start her first grade curriculum next fall (2007).  Just to keep her in sinc with PS grades/ages.

I think I am going to order the regular Kindergarten curriculum and start it in June.  I was going to take most of the summer off, but I think DD would benefit from doing school part time through the summer.  I don't want her to lose her momentum.

I'd like to see if we can complete the regular curriculum by Dec 2006, and then start the Advanced in January 2007.  Finishing the advanced one sometime before September 2007, when I'd like to start 1st grade.

We will just see how it goes.  I am not going to push DD in any way.  I just feel we are spinning our wheels right now, as she is so excited about school and I don't know the next step without a curriculum.  We do workbooks and such, but I'd like to be working with her on a curriculum, if we are doing something anyway.

This is really just ramblings.  Gosh, if you have read this far, I am so sorry.  LOL.

I hope everybody has a great week!

Hugs,
Lisa
