Monday....puppy plans?...and SIS arrives from Alaska

Well we had a pretty good day today.  I should have cleaned house, but didn't, so it's not up to par, but I'll work on it tomorrow after my sugar test appt.

We have decided to purchase 2 Great Pyrenese pups.  We'll buy them from the same place we bought our goats in the Spring.  They are $100 each and will be 8 weeks old on Aug 13 (I think).  DH's brother delivers trailers around the U.S., so he is going to pick them up for us next week sometime.  That will save us a ton of money on gas (the pups are in southern Missouri). 

We have been discussing Livestock Guardian Dogs a lot recently.  We have a pack of coyotes just across the street from us.  We hear them often and know they are there.  The electric fence is nice, but the gates could be dug under quite easily. 

There have been sightings of cougar less than 5 miles away. 

DH is also a little afraid of two-legged thieves.  Our lower pasture is right along a road and while the fence is electric, the gate is not (and is right along that road...necessary gate for the electric company to access their pole on our property).  The gate is locked (combination lock), but wouldn't be hard to climb if somebody was motivated.  The field is pretty far from the house, so we wouldn't know if this was going on.  We hope the dogs will deter any danger the herd may face.

We will keep the pups together (two males, soon to be neutered) and keep them with the bucks for now.  Once they get older one will go with the does and one will stay with the bucks.

Our day today:

4:30ish DH up and ready for the day.

5:15ish DH leaves for work (he starts at 6AM and it's a 25 minute drive without traffic).

8:30ish DD and I wake up, shower, dress, hair, teeth, breakfast and TV program for DD.

10ish Studies (not a good day today...DD complained a lot and said she wished we didn't have to do school.  We had a talk and all seems ok now).

11:30ish I worked on a scrapbook that had to go out in the mail today.

1ish we had a snack (we had plans to eat lunch late at my parent's house).

2ish we make it to the post office which we find closed for lunch.  LOL  Figures.  My scrapbook will have to go out in tomorrow's mail.

2:30/3ish we get to my parent's house for a late lunch and enjoy a nice visit with my sister who just arrived yesterday from Alaska.

8:30ish I arrive home to visit with DH for about 30 minutes before he goes to bed...DD is spending the night with my parents (this works nicely as I have my sugar test in the morning).

My sister is pregnant with twins...she's about 24 weeks along I think.  You cannot even tell she's pregnant.  My belly is HUGE and I am only having one.  Figures.  Sis is toothpick thin and has just the tiniest little bump for a belly.  Ah well.  I guess you could say I'm healthy.  LOL

Sis and her DH are going to live next to my parents and fix up a vacant house that is on their property.  It doesn't need much work at all (insulation put in, furnace hooked up, and shingles on part of roof...all the supplies are there already), so this is a great deal for them, and great for my parents, as they will also pay rent.  A good deal for everybody I think.

DD is spending the night with mom and dad tonight and they will bring her home tomorrow afternoon/evening.  I have my sugar test in the morning and then I'll come home and clean this house (it needs it desperately).

Tomorrow's plans...

8AM sugar test in town (30 minutes away).  I get a blood draw when I get there, then drink the yucky stuff, and then get a blood draw an hour later.  I have to sit in the waiting room for that hour, so I'll just take a book and some water.  I will be ready to eat when I get out of there!

I figure I'll take a tuna sandwich with me so I can just eat when I get to the car afterward.

10ish I plan to be home and straightening the house (unless DH gets paid first and then I'll hit the grocery on the way home...save a trip back into town...gas is too expensive to make too many trips!) 

I may try to fit in a nap, depending on how I feel after getting up early and not eating breakfast.

5ish DH will get home, and DD should be arriving around that time as well. 

My sister is going to ride along with my parents to bring DD home, and she will be quite surprised to see our 'spread'.  I honestly can't remember the last time she was here, but I don't think she's seen any of our animals.  2 or 3 years I bet it's been.  She won't be impressed.  She is NOT an animal person.  LOL

6:30ish Supper.  I'm not sure yet what I'll make...it will depend on if DH gets paid tomorrow or not (I'll go to the store if he does).  Spaghetti or goulash are possibilities if I don't get to the store.
