Well, it has been ages since I've been here...

So I'll just give an overall update on things around here...
The pregnancy is coming along nicely. My belly is huge and I'm not sure how I'll make it to October. We found out it's going to be a girl! I am very excited about that. I am a bit disappointed for DH, as I know he would have liked a boy, but I am quite happy. DD is thrilled...she went to the ultrasound with us and when the lady said it was a girl she said, "That is just what I wanted"!!!! It was very cute.
I've been yard saling and picking up clothes and other things I may need. We still have all our large items from when DD was a baby. We do plan to purchase a new stroller, and maybe one with a small platform so DD can ride as well. We'll see.

DD has a birthday coming up on Monday, she is so excited. We bought her a trampoline with the net enclosure. She doesn't know it yet and I think she is going to love it. Her official 'party' is on July 1. We scaled down this year on her party and are just having family over for some cold cuts, chips, cake and ice cream. Should be a good time...

DH is working overtime these days. He is on 10 hour days through the week and 8 hours on Saturdays. It doesn't leave him much time for projects around the house, but things are going good anyway.

Our goat count is at 33. Our newest addition (a little buckling) was born 2 1/2 weeks ago. We've sold one goat to some people who came up our drive and asked on Memorial Day weekend. The same people started buying my brown eggs for $1.50 per dozen. I get 4 brown eggs per day, so they'd come about every 3 days and pick up a dozen. I haven't heard from them in a week now though, so I guess they are done? Just not sure.
A neighbor boy came by this afternoon and wanted to buy a goat from us...DH took him around and showed him everybody. He chose the little buckling we love so much. I am so glad he's going to a close home. He won't be ready to go until after the 4th of July (he'll be 3 months then). The boy was very excited and said he'd been watching that goat since we put it out there in that field (that field is easily viewed from the road).

I think I may order some female guinea keets from a hatchery. I am down to one guinea hen and she's lonely. I had three, and one died (we don't know what happened), and then the next day the other one was just gone...no signs of a struggle or anything. Now I have one left and she needs a buddy or two (or more). I can't have male guineas as they are too hard on my rooster. My rooster is up there in age and I won't have anything around that picks on him.
My Malarki (rooster) still can't crow, but he still runs the roost. We have one other rooster (Malarki's offspring from last year), and Malarki bosses him around all day long. We had a stray rooster come up one day and Malarki chased him all the way back down the driveway. He may be old, but he knows his job and does it well. LOL

DD acquired a cough about 2 months ago, a bad one. She couldn't STOP coughing. It was horrible...and I almost had to take her to the ER a few times because she couldn't catch her breath. After several tests (chest X-ray, sinus X-ray and allergy testing) it was determined that it must be Asthma. The specialist can't get us in until August 2, so our ped put her on Pulmicort (sp)...it's a breathing treatment, twice per day. It helped a lot, but it was the same time we turned our air conditioner on, so that may have helped as well. Anyway, we are down to once a day on the breathing treatment, and her cough is almost non-existant. She does start up if she's running excessively, but it isn't near as bad as it was before. She couldn't even walk a short distance without a coughing fit. So we are happy to have her past that.
She also has to go see a surgeon at the end of this month. She was born with an umbilical hernia and it should have grown closed by now, but hasn't. Hopefully the surgeon will say it's too small to worry about...but if not, then we have to have it fixed soon.

I have a bit of insomnia with this pregnancy. I can't sleep much at night...when I do get to sleep, I have to get up and go to the bathroom, so I feel like there isn't much point in going to bed at all. LOL. Just kidding. It's pretty bad though. I've started sleeping in the spare room so that I don't keep everybody else up.
I am going on a scrapbook retreat this weekend. I am not as excited about it as I should be. The truth is I just don't have the energy to drag all my things out. I am excited to see my friends though. 4 of them are from my mommy board (I've met them several times already), and 3 are friends of one of those mommies (I've met them several times as well). It will be a fun weekend, even if I don't scrapbook much.
I can't sit for very long periods of time either, my back starts hurting. So, I'm taking a book and I'll just read and relax if that starts happening.
*******************************
I've been cutting strawberries for the last couple days. I have one more flat to go and I'll be done (unless they are still available when I return from the retreat, then I'll get more). We'll have a total of 32 quarts in the freezer. I'd like more than that, but I'll have to see what's available when I get back.

The garden is planted, but it was done just last week. We'll have a late garden, but that's fine. My dad and brother both have had theirs in for quite some time, so we'll stagger our veggies and have fresh ones longer. I hope to can a lot of tomatoes this year. I'd also like to do spaghetti sauce and green beans, and squash...and I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
We also plan to put up fruit as it comes into season. We have to buy it, as we don't currently have any fruit trees/bushes (but we do have plans for that). Strawberries are going in now...then I think cherries? Then blueberries (we live in one of the best blueberry areas in the country), and then apples. I usually dehydrate the apples, we all like them that way just as a snack.
Ok, I'd better get going...I hope to be on more often now, it seems ages since I've even been online. I hope to update about once a week at least.
I hope you are all doing well. I hope to catch up on a few blogs while I'm online...
