Menu Plan Monday

Well, we had another fun weekend.  Friday night Lilli spent the night with my parents.  Saturday night she came home and we had a nice evening reading stories and playing games.  Sunday she had her horse lesson and then a friend from her class came over with their family (both parents and 4 kids).  We had a great time playing with them all afternoon.  Poor Lauren fell asleep sitting on my lap while they were here...she didn't want to go to sleep, but she was so tired.  LOL.  Lance cut wood on Friday and Sunday.

Here is our menu idea for this week.  We didn't have meatballs or tacos last week, so we will have those this week...

Monday:  **Rue, mashed potatoes and tomato gravy, peas

Tuesday:  Baked Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans

Wednesday:  Baked Spaghetti and garlic bread (bread machine)

Thursday:  leftovers

Friday:  Tacos

Saturday:  Polish Sausage w/ green peppers and onions, boiled potatoes, green beans (crockpot)

Sunday:  Sweet and Sour Meatballs (crockpot), baked potatoes, corn

**Rue is a dish I learned from my MIL.  You take a cut of beef (sirloin or similar), then cook it slowly (with a jar of tomatoes) for a couple hours in an electric skillet.  I don't currently have an electric skillet so I'm just using my cast iron skillet.  Anyway, you just cook it slowly until it's tender, then you remove the meat and make gravy out of the tomato juice that's left in the skillet.  To make the gravy, I just use flour and sometimes a little water and mix and heat until it gets to the consistency I like.

Breakfast will consist of cereal, toast, or cinnamon rolls

Lunches will be soup, sandwiches, or leftovers

Desserts will be strawberry shortcake and/or pudding

Our week looks a bit busy again...we'll see how it goes.

Monday:  Lance works 10 hours.  Lilli has school.  Lance Dr appt (recheck from his hernia surgery) at 4:30PM.  A home day after school (yay).

Tuesday:  Lance works 10 hours.  Lilli has school.  A trip to the Zoo Boo (at Binder Park Zoo) with SIL Vicki and niece Alyssa.

Wednesday:  Lance works 10 hours.  Lilli has school.  Lauren playgroup from 9:30-11.  Then I run her to my parent's house and I volunteer at Lilli's school from 12-3.  Lilli and I have friends coming over after school, to play and eat supper.  Lance will pick Lauren up in South Haven after work (or my parent's might bring her home), I haven't finalized those plans yet.

Thursday:  Lance works 10 hours.  Lilli has school.  Lilli has dance 6-8PM.

Friday:  Lance off work?  Lilli has school.  Lance dentist appt 8AM.  Lance, Lauren and I will cut wood during the day if it isn't raining.  Lilli will spend the night at my parent's house this evening.

Saturday:  A scrapbook day at my niece's school.  Lauren will either stay with Lance, or I'll drop her off at my parent's house on the way to the scrapbooking event if he's busy.  Alyssa's school is only a block from my parent's house, so that is very handy.

Sunday:  Lilli's horse lesson at 11AM (if it isn't raining).  Then there is a fall/Halloween festival for the kids at a friend's church in Bangor from 4-6PM (hopefully it won't be raining, I believe it's all outside).

I am adjusting well to my new car.  I really do like it.  I put gas in it for the first time today.  $2.79 per gallon didn't seem bad.  I wasn't sure how much it would hold...the Honda would take $50 when it was low.  Well I think this car was low, but it's hard to tell with the floating gas gauge.  Anyway, I got to $35 and it kept going, so I figured it was the same as the Honda.  Then at $38 it squirted gas all over me.  Yuck.  No warning, it didn't even start leaking out the bottom, it just shot out at me.  Eewwwww.  The Honda always clicked it off before it overflowed, and even if I did overflow it by trying to get to an exact dollar amount (LOL), it would just drip out a bit.  Obviously they didn't have that great invention in 1987.  Ick.  I'm not even sure exactly how low it was because of the floating thing, so I'll definitely be more cautious next time.  Sighing as my Disney sweatshirt is flipping around in the dryer right now.  I hope that smell came out.
