Lauren's ENT appt, Chuck E Cheese, Toys R Us

{ 09:56, 2008-Jun-25 } { 1 comments } { Link }

Well, Lauren had her ENT appt this morning.  She doesn't like doctors much.  She is fine in the little room until the door knob turns and then she screams bloody murder the ENTIRE time the doctor is in the room.  Nonstop.  Barely takes time to breathe in between the screams.  The ENT is the EASY doctor...no shots...but she's obviously not convinced.

Anyway, with all that screaming, the ENT was able to get a good look at her tonsils.  LOL.  He says they are enlarged and infected and they need to come out as soon as possible.  They will call me tomorrow with a date for a tonsilectomy for her.  She will have to stay at least one night in the hospital, and maybe two or three nights.  It isn't that the surgery is harder, but with younger kids it's hard to coax them into drinking and eating following surgery, so they have to keep them on fluid IVs longer than the older kids...until they start drinking and eating by themselves.  Lauren is a pretty good eater, but if she's not feeling well, I'm just not sure how she'll do.  I almost wonder if I should have waited to wean her until after this surgery.  Ah well...too late now.

After the doctor appt I took the girls to Chuck E Cheese as a special treat for Lilli's birthday (it's tomorrow).  We had such a great time!  We spent about two hours there and it cost about $10.  I bought $5 in tokens and spent $5 on drinks and some cinnamon sticks.  Lilli really doesn't use many tokens.  She played a few games and then she was done with that...she likes to run around and climb and play on the slides with Lauren.  Lauren used most of the tokens on the little kiddy rides.  Lauren had a blast running around with Lilli.  She was just running everywhere with her eyes wide with excitement.  It was very cute.  We left out of there and Lilli said, "that was really fun".  :)

After Chuck E Cheese we headed for Toys R Us (right next door).  I told Lilli she could pick anything she wanted in the whole entire store as her birthday present.  I'm not sure I should have worded that quite like that.  She looked for almost 2 hours before I finally had to start telling her we were going to have to leave soon.  Poor Lauren had fallen asleep in the cart so I was carrying her and she is really quite heavy.  LOL.  Lilli just couldn't make up her mind.  She really likes all the stuffed animals but she finally decided on a movie?  I have no idea where that idea came from, but I wasn't going to argue when we'd been in there so long already.  She chose a "Land Before Time" movie.  The title is "Invasion of the Tinysauruses".  She loves Little Foot movies and has most of them on video already.  There are quite a few of them and they are all really cute.  I bought a few play dough gadgets for her as well.  I don't think she saw me get those so hopefully they'll be a surprise for her tomorrow.  She's really hard to buy for.  She is really into sprinklers this year but they didn't have a good selection of those.

I bought Lauren a really shallow kiddie pool to put by the garden.  It will keep her busy while I tend the garden this summer.  She does pretty good but gets bored easily.  If she has water and a cup or two to play with, then she's usually good for a half hour or more at a time.  LOL

I also bought Lauren an outfit.  It's a tank top with carpis and has Winnie the Pooh (I was thinking for our Disney Trip).  It was on clearance for $7 but rang up $5.50!  I should have went back and looked for others but with Lauren asleep I just wasn't in a position to do so.  We don't get up to that part of town much, so I doubt I'll hit that great sale again anytime soon.

We hit McDonald's (for Lauren and I) and Arby's (for Lilli) on the way home.  We came home and Lilli took care of her puppy and then watched her movie.  I worked on my morning routine since I didn't get anything done before the ENT appt.  It would have been fine to wait until tomorrow, but then I get behind and never seem to catch up.  So I did a load of wash, hung it to dry, washed the dishes, made Lance's lunch, etc.

I took the goats out to pasture and they had a few hours of browsing before they were ready to come back to their stall again.  Violet, my milk goat, and her baby buckling live in a stall in our barn (converted woodshed) with an attached yard.  I walk them out to the big pasture during the day, if it isn't raining, so they can get a good variety of green grasses.  They keep their yard eaten down pretty short, so this is great for them.  They are always ready to return to their stall in the evenings though.

I also washed all of our chicken waterers that weren't being used.  We'll put them in storage until we need them, but they all needed a good washing with a bit of bleach to kill the ickies before storing.  We bought a bunch of them a couple years ago when we found a good deal and they come in handy anytime we need to have several cages with chickens or turkeys or guineas or ??

Lance came home and he moved two of our 6 newest pigs into their own pen.  The new pen has a hot wire to train them with.  It's just strung across a part of the pen, when they touch it, they know it.  They have to learn what it does before we put them in the big pen with the other pigs.  We don't need any piglets going through a fence on us...that isn't fun at all.  I thought we were going to sell these 6 pigs, but now I'm not sure.  Once they are in the big pen they are NOT easy to round up for transport to an auction.  I'm not sure what Lance's idea is.  I'm just glad that they are getting moved from their current living arrangement because they STINK!  Ick.  I have to walk by them to tend our chickens and ICK ICK ICK.  LOL

Lance also hooked up our garden sprinkler.  It's been 'going to rain' everyday for two weeks, but we've not seen more than a few sprinkles each time.  Just enough to wet the ground, not enough to water the plants.  I'm thrilled that the sprinkler is up now...we'll water it every day that it doesn't rain..the garden does so good that way.  We need those plants to grow fast...it was a pretty late garden anyway and I really want to get our veggies in before the first frost hits.  I SO remember picking a TON of green tomatoes one year because of an early frost.  The tomatoes ripened in our basement, but what a pain that was!

Lance's brother and his wife came over for a few minutes this evening as well.  They brought a bag of cheesy puffcorns for the girls and the girls were thrilled with that!  LOL.  They didn't stay long but we had a nice visit while they were here.  I gave SIL some herb plants that I had bought and didn't have room for.  I have no more room in our garden...every bit of usable tilled space is filled.  LOL.

Lilli is very excited about her birthday tomorrow.  She LOVES to get presents.  LOL.  I put all of her gifts (except the movie) on the kitchen table for her to see when she wakes up in the morning.

Lilli is sleeping with her papa tonight.  Lauren isn't feeling her very best and she climbed onto Lance's lap at about 9PM and he rocked her to sleep :)  That doesn't happen very often.  It was very sweet.

Tomorrow we plan to get up and have breakfast, do our morning routine, and then head to the store for Lilli to pick out her birthday cake (mix), frosting, and ice cream...and choose a snack for her Tball team.  I'll come home and bake and decorate her cake and we'll have a few people over in the afternoon.  Just my parents, Lance's brother/wife, my SIL/niece.  Nothing big.  We have a lot of money going out this summer so we are keeping everything small this year.

We'll also pick up Lauren's antibiotic that the ENT gave me today.  He said to give it to her now to get rid of her current infection, and then give it anytime she gets that infection before she has her tonsils out.  He said we want her to be healthy when she goes in for that.

We'll also head to the feed store for chick feed and to the post office because we keep expecting something from the IRS Audit.  We haven't received our list of things they need yet and she said it would be a week or two.  Friday will be two weeks.  I can't believe it's taking that long and I may call the auditor and ask about it.

Lilli has her last Tball game tomorrow night and she gets to bring snack for her team.  I already bought those Koolaid drinks in the funny plastic bottles when they were on sale 6/$1.  I thought that was a great price :)  I'm not sure what she'll want to get for a snack, I'll leave that up to her.

Her coach is buying pizza for all the kids and we are all going to the park for an 'end of the season' party after her game.  That should be a great time too.

Yesterday Lance took her to the Tball game and I sent my camera with him in case they did a team photo.  They hadn't done Tball pictures yet, so I figured they were going to try and get a shot of the team at some point.  We'll, he got into his car to leave and the battery was dead.  He had put the camera between the seats of the car, but then he and Lilli drove his truck instead, and my camera was left in the car.  Then they get to the game and they are going to do a team shot!  LOL.  Figures.  I'll see if I can get a copy from one of the moms that took a shot or I'll try and get a shot tomorrow night at that game.

Oh, and I did Lilli's hair in pigtails for her game yesterday and she comes home with it in a ponytail.  I asked what happened and she said 'we got our new hats and I needed a ponytail to put through the back'.  Figures.  I swear I miss one game and everything happens that one night.  LOL.  Pigtails were too cute with her little visor hat she had on when she left here.  LOL

Yes, they received their hats last night.  At least they get to wear them for two of their 8 games.  LOL.

Looking ahead to Friday...Lauren has to have her VCUG.  Blah on that.  I am not looking forward to it at all.  Sigh.  It's such an unpleasant test.  Have I ever explained it?  It will show if her kidney reflux has healed or not.  They have to put a catheter in and fill her bladder until she pees.  When she pees they X-ray it to see if any urine is backing up into her kidneys.  She had this done a year ago and it showed it going back up into the kidneys.  It was considered grade 1, which usually heals within a year, so we pray that it's healed now.  She has been on a daily antibiotic to prevent Urinary Tract Infections for that entire year.  I'll be happy for her to get off of that.  Poor baby.  :(

Looking ahead to the weekend...we plan to help my mom and dad move into their new place.  I'm really not much help, but I'll try and do what I can.  If I go, then somebody has to run after Lauren the entire time so I'm almost a better help if I just stay away.  LOL  Hopefully I can help out somehow.
