Today, somewhat nervously I took my first longish ride. I promised my dh that the first nice day I could I would ride the bike to church so (he) we could show it to our friends. Our church is 40 miles away, literally over the river and through the curves (no woods, lol). Dh and niece followed me in the car (good thing, too, or I wouldn't have had any clothes to change into when I got there) so having him behind me for that length of time, while I felt protected, I also felt a little under the microscope. It was gray, slightly windy and 50*, but the chaps, vest and layers kept me warm enough, just wish I wouldn't go numb (nerve numbness) in my hands so much. It's hard to flex the right one and get feeling back in without losing too much speed. I had only one omgosh minute on the way up, I must have gone into a rut in the middle and it wobbled my bike, whatever it was I didn't see it, but I got out of it in a hurry.
The ride home was nicer. The sun came out a bit, but the wind picked up too, however it was pretty uneventful on the way back, thankfully. I had to stop and get gas when we got back to town, and was surprised to see that my odometer was at 510...which means I have 410 miles of riding under my belt so far. I never ever would have believed a year ago that I would be doing this now.
