• Thursday, October 18, 2007 - Grandma's Dishes

My Grandma is cleaning out her garage, and is having a garage sale tomorrow and Saturday.  So, I made sure I went over there today and bought what I wanted.  I got a box of old dishes for $4.00.  I am so HAPPY!  There is a set of six each plates, saucers, tea cups, and bowls in a beautiful floral pattern.  There is a serving platter and serving bowl and two plates that all match, and they come very close to matching the first set.  And there is two other misc plates.  I don't know much about what antiques are worth, but I love this set, it is very 'cottage', which is my favorite.  I am very sentimental, so having some of my Grandma, possibly Great Grandma's dishes mean a lot to me.  I also bought an old red(with overcast of other colors) glass pitcher for $1.50.  Can you imagine how happy an antique dealer would have been if they had seen it first?   I had to take 9 yo boy to the eye Dr, to get his lost glasses replaced.  You think by now I would learn to take something to do while I'm waiting.  I have a new magazine I haven't had time to read, that would have been handy to have.  Or some hand sewing.  My Mom has a bag she takes everywhere, with quilt blocks in it, she got an entire Sunbonnet Sue quilt done that way!  Keep smiling!
