Talk to your mom today!

As I sat down and started my monthly menu planning this morning, I know two days late, I was looking over last months menu. Recently my brother and his family came for a visit and I prepared a childhood favorite of ours. Cream corn with poached eggs. The eggs are poached right in the corn on low heat. This is a recipe that our mom made for us growing up. Mom worked nights and I honestly don't remember her cooking too too much, not everyday at least, we ate out with dad a whole lot, but this recipe I do recall.
Thinking how glad I was that my family enjoys it and that I learned to do it as well if not a little better, than mom, and that I would be able to pass it down to my daughter and daughters in law some day, I begin to feel sad. I never asked her if this was something that her mom made for her or was it something that she came up with on her own. I'll never know now. Then I started thinking of all the things that I hadn't asked her or found out about from her. The Alzheimers has taken my mom away from me very early. She is only 65 years old and just a couple of years ago was vibrant and beautiful. People often mistakened us for sisters, which made her feel really good, me not so much, she was my mom after all, lol. And now she lays there and doesn't even know who we are let alone what her mom cooked or didn't cook for her when she was child.
Like I said mom worked a lot and so with me off raising my family and her off doing her thing, we didn't talk too much. Granted I talked to her almost everyday, but we never really talked, you know what I mean. I was thinking the other day that Mother's Day is right around the corner and that the only gift I can give mom that she even enjoys is candy, and that is only when I can get her to eat a small bit. So take a little hint of advice from me, if you are lucky enough to stil have your mom with you, sit down with her on Mother's Day and have a great big long conversation with her. It will be the best gift that you both can give each other, I promise.

One great book, so I'm giving it away.........
Last week I finished reading Passionate Housewives Desperate for God. I can't tell you how much I learned from this book. It opened my eyes to many different things. It was such a great book that I knew that I didn't want it just sitting on a shelf getting dusty. I want it to be read by as many as possible. So I have decided in honor of my 800th post here on the blogger, that I would do a book giveaway. The only thing that I ask is that once you've finish reading it, you do the same, pass it on to someone else. So if you would like to read this book leave me a comment here on my blog. If more than one person leaves a comment, I will pick a name out of a hat, or bowl, to see who the lucky person is.
If you would like to read more about this book or listen to the authors speak on a radio show about it, go HERE. Here is a review of the book.
What Martha Peace has to say about Passionate Housewives:
"Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God is an exceptionally well written book. Jennie Chancey and Stacy McDonald do not pretend to be the perfect wives, mothers, and homemakers; but they do have a heart for God and His glory. Both of them see the role of the wife and mother as God’s high and holy calling and they exhort us through Scripture and practical examples to, by God’s grace, fulfill that calling. This book will make you think, will convict you, and will, as the subtitle states, give you a 'fresh vision for the Hopeful Homemaker.' I highly recommend this book." Martha Peace, Biblical Counselor and author of The Excellent Wife.
So if you are interested in reading a wonderful eye opening book that will for the most part, be a blessing to you, go ahead and leave me a little comment.

The Pastor and his Son
I found this in my inbox this morning from a wonderful person and thought I had to share it with you all.

(A good reminder of God's Love.)
Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts.
This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring down rain. The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, "OK, dad, I'm ready."
His Pastor dad asked, "Ready for what?" "Dad, it's time we gather our tracts together and go out."
Dad responds, "Son, it's very cold outside and it's pouring down rain."
The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, "But Dad,
aren't people still going to Hell, even though it's raining?"
Dad answers, "Son, I am not going out in this weather."
Despondently, the boy asks, "Dad, can I go? Please?"
His father hesitated for a moment then said, "Son, you can go. Here are the tracts, be careful son."
"Thanks Dad!" And with that, he was off and out into the rain. his eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract.
After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking,bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.
Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the
sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the
bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but
still no one answered. He waited but still no answer.
Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang
the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch! He rang again and this time the door slowly opened.
Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly asked, "What can I do for you, son?" With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, "Ma'am, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that *JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE."
With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave.
She called to him as he departed. "Thank you, son! And God Bless You!"
Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the pulpit. As the service began, he asked, "Does anybody have any testimony or want to say anything?"
Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her feet. As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her face, "No one in this church knows me. I've never been here before. You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Sunday, being a particularly cold and rainy day,it was even more so in my heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.
So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair, so lonely and brokenhearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought,
"I'll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away." I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly. I thought to myself again, "Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me."
I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder. When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you! The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead, TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, "Ma'am, I just came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU." Then he gave me this Gospel Tract that I now hold in my hand.
As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel Tract. Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn't be needing them any more.
You see---I am now a Happy Child of the KING. Since the address of your church was on the back of this Gospel Tract, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God's little angel who came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell."
There was not a dry eye in the church. And as shouts of praise and honor to THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building, Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little angel was seated.
He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably. Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor for his son... Except for One. Our Father also allowed His Son to go out into a cold and dark world. He received His Son back with joy unspeakable, and as all of heaven shouted praises and honor to The King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a throne far above all principality and power and every name that is named.
Blessed are your eyes for reading this message. Don't let this message die, read it again and pass it to others. Heaven is for His people! Remember, God's message CAN make the difference in the life of someone close to you.

If Only I Were Perfect
If Only I Were Perfect
by Crystal Paine
I've wished so much recently that I could find a way to have a spotlessly clean, organized, and well-decorated home, serve delicious and elaborate meals on time three times a day, spend the necessary time to maintain a business, while at same time not in any way neglecting my relationship with the Lord, my husband, or my daughter.
I wish I could get out of bed every morning at 5 a.m. to an immaculately clean home. I wish I could shower, dress, and fix my hair before anyone wakes up. I wish I could spend a solid hour of uninterrupted time reading the Bible and praying before I begin my day each and every morning. I wish I could have the house all perfectly cleaned and in order by 8 a.m. every morning (though, I guess if I woke up to it immaculate, I wouldn't even need to clean!). I wish that the laundry and dishes magically washed themselves and put themselves away or that I had a live-in maid.
I wish that I never said an unkind word or had an unkind thought. I wish that I would never disappoint my husband. I wish that I could spend all day everyday playing with my daughter. I wish I were never tired and had a boatload of energy all the time. I wish that I could live on 3 hours of sleep or less every night.
Instead, I'm just me. My house is often messy and always in need of some type of cleaning. I'm always behind in some area. I never get to spend as much time playing or reading with my daughter as I'd like. I'm forever behind on the ironing. My husband comes home some nights and I'm exhausted, the house is messy, dinner is only a figment of my imagination, and I'm still in my pajamas. I often say and do things that I regret. I fail in some area on an hourly basis and can easily become discouraged and overwhelmed.
Yes, sometimes I wish I were perfect. But, then I realize that if I were perfect, I'd never have anything to trust God about. I'd never need anyone to pray for me. I'd never need anyone's help. I'd never have to cry out to God for mercy when I'd failed yet again. I'd never need comfort from the Scriptures. And, I'd never know the depths of God's grace and mercy to one so undeserving as me.
Not sure about you ladies, but this it me to a tee. You can read this article and more at Biblical Womanhood.

I think God controls my "inbox"
There are some days that I get up and immediatly start wondering how, what, when, where, who, and sometimes why. Second thought, prayers. This week I have been so busy getting my teenage son's bedroom ready for my mother to come and live with us. If you are the mother of a teenage boy, you know that this is not an easy job. LOL There was painting to be done, walls to wipe down, a ceiling fan that needed cleaning, posters that needed taking down, closets that needed a priest, and so much more. I am about 60% done, I still have to switch some furniture around and move things in and out of two seperate rooms.
So with all of this going on, lets just say my home is in shambles, and I don't do shambles very well. I'm the type that has to have everything in it's place 99.99% of the time. And right now, it's not that way. The laundry seems to be the biggest issue, you know if you miss even one day of doing it, the monster is out of control. It would so help if it wasn't raining all the time, I could put some of it on the line outside. I did manage to mop the entire house and dust several rooms already this morning, the two chores that I look forward to the least, so that's a start.
Anyway, as I took a break for a bit and sat down to the computer a few minutes ago with my second cup of coffee in hand I headed to my inbox to see what was good for today. I usually find what I need or am looking for in there. Whether it's a note from a friend or my favorite sister in law, a joke that makes my laugh, something spiritual and encouraging, or some helpful hint or a tip or two, my inbox always seems to have something for me at the moment.
Here is a couple of things that I had in there this morning, see how helpful these were to me today with what I have going on in my life right no.
Unrealistic Expectations
"A trap to avoid is that of inflexible standards and unrealistic expectations. You need different goals for ordinary times and times of illness, stress, company, new babies, long working hours, or other interruptions of your home routine. People with large houses, many children or guests, active households, or invalid parents will have to spread themselves more thinly and should not expect to be able to keep house like the Joneses. Also, the fewer your resources of all kinds - money, help, appliances, skills, time - the more modest will be the level of housekeeping you can realistically hope for.
When you cannot have everything, establish priorities. Health, safety, and comfort matter more than appearances, clutter, organization, and entertainment. A jumbled closet may distract you, but it is much less urgent than clean sheets, laundry, or meals. Excessive dustiness can be unhealthy as well as uncomfortable; smeary mirrors (usually) aren’t. Clean the rooms you spend most time in and those where cleanliness is urgent (bedroom, kitchen, bathroom); let everything else go. Polishing gems and organizing your photographs can be put off indefinitely.
When you fall below your ordinary standards of housekeeping, a backup plan can help prevent the fall from turning into a free fall. Planning how you will engage in a housekeeping retraction at such times and return to ordinary standards when the crisis is past keeps you in control. The goal during these times is to adhere, more or less, to some workable minimal routine. If you can still cook simple meals and food preparation areas are safe and sanitary, if everyone has clean clothes, if the bedrooms are dusted, vacuumed, and aired and the bedding is fresh, you are doing well."
("Home Comforts: The Art & Science of Keeping House"
by Cheryl Mendelson)
So Kitty, when you find yourself feeling blue, always
concentrate on your blessings and you will find yourself
thinking, "Your Blessings Are So Many, Lord," and that will chase your
blues away! For indeed.....
Your Blessings Are So Many, Lord,
To count them one-by-one
Would take much longer than the day
That has just now begun!
You fill each day with miracles
From dawn to setting sun.
Each night you hear a million prayers
When day's work is done.
You keep the old World spinning
As seasons come and go,
And each one is a masterpiece
That sets our hearts aglow.
You fill the Earth with beauty, Lord,
With flowers, shrubs and trees,
And butterflies and bees.
Your Words still give us comfort
For Your promises are true.
Your blessings are so many, Lord,
In everything we do!
Poet: Clay Harrison
Have a wonderful Day, Kitty, and may GOD'S Grace
shine down on you! Amen!
These are bits that I receive each day from:
Kindred Spirits a yahoo group l have linked on my sidebar and Gods Minute a wonderful and encouraging mailing that I get each day.
So there you have it, I am now ready to face my day, LOL. Well I hope each of you find what you need to get through today, and have a great one.
P.S. -- I would just like to say Thanks for all the love I got on my HSB Carnival. I did put some hours into it, so I'm glad you'll liked it. It was fun!

A Marriage Takes Three
Marriage Takes Three
I once thought marriage took
Just two to make a go,
But now I am convinced
It takes the Lord also.
And not one marriage fails
Where Christ is asked to enter,
As lovers come together
With Jesus at the center.
But marriage seldom thrives
And homes are incomplete
Until He’s welcome there
To help avoid defeat.
In homes where Christ is first,
It’s obvious to see,
Those unions really work,
For marriage still takes three.

Something to Share

I though it worth sharing with you this
morning. I hope that it will minister to you, as it has to me!
____________________________________
A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in a local store. She must
have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image
of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes
over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has
no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning
and just inside the door of the store.
We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature
messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I
got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt
and dust of the World. Memories of running, splashing so carefree
as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of
my day.
The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we
were all caught in "Mom, let's run through the rain," she said.
"What?" Mom asked.
"Let's run through the rain!" She repeated.
"No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit," Mom replied.
This young child waited about another minute and repeated:
"Mom, let's run through the rain,"
"We'll get soaked if we do," Mom said.
"No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning," the
young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.
"This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and
not get wet?"
"Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about
his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get
us through anything!"
Now the entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't
hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came
or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a
moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off
and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was
said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life.
A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom
into faith.
"Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD
let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing," Mom said.
Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as
they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held
their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked.
But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like
children all the way to their cars.
And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.
Circumstances or people can take away your material
possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take
away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious
memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities
to make memories everyday. To Everything There Is A Season And
A Time To Every Purpose Under Heaven! ( Ecclesiastes 3:1 )
Now they say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour
to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to
forget them. So Kitty, take the time to keep in touch with your
friends, you never know when you'll need each other -- and don't ever
forget "to run in the rain!" Amen. Have a great day!

The Christmas Pageant

As you know, Christmas Pageants are very popular this time of
year. I received the following message this week about one
mother's experience as such a Pageant. It should either bring
back memories, or a laugh or two to start your day, so let us
begin.....
"THE CHRISTMAS PAGEANT."
My proudest moment came during the
children's Christmas pageant. My daughter was playing
Mary, two of my sons were shepherds and my
youngest son was a wise man.
This was their moment to shine. My five-year-old
shepherd had practiced his line,
"'We found the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes.'
But he was nervous and said, 'The baby was wrapped
in wrinkled clothes.' My four-year-old 'Mary' said,
'That's not 'wrinkled clothes,' silly. That's dirty, rotten clothes.'
A wrestling match broke out between Mary and the shepherd
and was stopped by an angel, who bent her halo and lost
her left wing. I slouched a little lower in my seat when Mary
dropped the doll representing Baby Jesus, and it bounced
down the aisle crying, 'Mama-mama.'
Mary grabbed the doll, wrapped it back up and held it tightly
as the wise men arrived. My other son stepped
forward wearing a bathrobe and a paper crown, knelt at the
manger and announced, 'We are the three wise guys,
and we are bringing gifts of gold, common sense and fur.'
The congregation dissolved into laughter, and the pageant
got a standing ovation.
'I've never enjoyed a Christmas program as much as this
one,' laughed the Pastor, wiping tears from his eyes.
'For the rest of my life, I'll never hear the Christmas story
without thinking of gold, common sense and fur.'
'My children are my pride and my joy and my greatest
blessing,' I said as I dug through my purse for an aspirin.

Six Things to Do Every Day
Six Things to Do Every Day
Get into the habit of completing these basic tasks daily. With just a few minutes’ work, you’ll easily be able to keep chaos at bay.
1. Make the Bed
Tidiness begets tidiness. A crisply made bed makes the whold room seem more orderly, which makes it less likely that you’ll let oet other things - such as clothes and papers - pile up around it.
2. Manage Clutter
Whenever you leave a room, take a quick look around for anything that isn’t where it should be. Pick it up and put it where it belongs. Insist that everyone in the household do the same.
3. Sort the Mail
Take a few minutes to open, read, and sort mail as soon as you bring it inside. Keep a trash bin near your sorting area for junk mail. Drop other mail into one of four in-boxes: personal correspondence, bills, catalogs, and filing.
4. Clean As You Cook
Instead of filling the sink with pots and dishes, wash them or put them in the dishwasther as you prepare a meal.
5. Wipe Up Spills While They’re Still Fresh
Whether it’s tomato sauce on the cooktop or makeup on the bathroom counter, almost anything is faster and easier to remove if you attend to it immediately.
6. Sweep the Kitchen Floor
Every evening once you’ve finished washing up after dinner, sweep the floor. This will keep tough-to-clean dirt and grime from building up, which will make the weekly mopping much quicker.
(Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook)
Have a great day.......Kitty

Attitude Check
"When we view managing our home as drudgery, it becomes just that - drudgery. But if we view it as our duty to God, it becomes a joy and delight."
Nancy Wilson, The Fruit of Her Hands
I have learned to live by this, if I wouldn't have, my life would be a depressed messed and one big anxiety attack, LOL. The chores that I really hate tackling, I just say to myself, "your doing this dusting for God, not for you". Corny but it works.

Bright October

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons of the year. For, THE
LAND WILL YIELD ITS HARVEST, AND GOD, OUR GOD, WILL
BLESS US, with the beautiful colors of Fall. ( PSALM 67:7 )
This is because: HE HAS MADE EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL IN
ITS TIME. ( ECCLESIASTES 3:11 )
So, today I would like to share with you a poem about
my favorite season. It is about a.....
Bright October
I know no other season
So filled with warmth and cheer
As on these bright October days
When autumn time is here.
The hills have turned from summer's green
To dazzling red and gold;
The flower beds and brighter, too,
So festive to behold!
The harvest yield is gathered in;
God sends His gifts anew.
Each roadside stand, a harvest fair
That warms the heart of you.
A bluish haze on distant hills,
The maple's scarlet flame;
And oak trees dressed in Joseph-coats
Stands guard along the lane.
Of all the seasons of the year,
Each one with beauty blessed,
I hold to Autumn's warmth and cheer--
I like October best!
Poet, Kay Hoffman
Have a Great Weekend, and may it be filled with peace! .............Kitty

Just a Little Prayer

Just A Little Prayer
God is ever there for those
Who really, really care,
He helps dispel your cares and woes
With just a little prayer.
Invite the Lord into your heart,
He has much love to spare,
A love He gladly would impart
With just a little prayer.
Let Him know when things go wrong,
No matter when or where.
He can fill your heart with song
With just a little prayer.
It matters not your race or creed,
God does not compare.
He can fill your wants and needs
With just a little prayer.
No power on earth can give to man
God's immortal blessings rare.
He is the only One who can
With just a little prayer.
Poet, Joseph Ferrara

The *Nice Matters* Award
This wonderful award was given to me be an equally wonderful person, Sheryl over at Stonefarm35. I have to say that there has not been one person on this blog site that I wouldn't want to sit down with in my countryfied kitchen and have coffee and cake with, LOL. I love each of you so much. I can not even begin to tell you how much this blog has changed my life for the better.

Now I must pass it on and that's the hard thing. Like I said there isn't one person that I don't like on here, so choosing a few is ruff for me.
*Rashel -- she is just one of the sweetest things.
*Chas -- she is always ready to help and has great posts.
*Patti -- she is so very good at writing what she means, and it's always good stuff, lol.
*Trixie -- another sweatheart here on the HSB.
*Debbie -- somebody you always want around.
OK that's it. I hate that I have to choose for something like this. I hope everyone gets one because everyone deserves one.
Thanks for visiting today..........Kitty

Out of the mouths of men
Here is my fall decor picture for this morning. I love the way it is shadowed by the hanging plant above it.

Thursday while I was looking through all the closets for my fall decorations I realized a few pieces were missing. We have storage space above all of the closets in the bedrooms and it is pretty high up so I very rarely go up there. But wanting to know where the missings things were, I ventured up on a chair. Sure enough the mia decorations were up there. I also found some bedding that I had purchased at a thrift store or garage sale once upon a time, and apparently decided to pick it up for the time being and as usual, forgot about it. Very excited about my new finds I decided to "redo" the bedroom on the spur of the moment.
So up went new curtains, aka sheets, a new comforter, dust ruffle, and matching decorative pillows, yeah me. My dh had a doctors appointment, (which is another funny story in itself that I will tell very soon) that afternoon for a physical for his job, so he came home earlier than usual. I had just finished with the bedroom when he walked in. I smiled at him with a "look what I did" grin on my face. He did what he usually does, shook his head with a look of confusion on his face. Poor thing he never knows what he might come home to each day LOL.
Anyway I asked him what he thought, this is what he said, and I quote:
"It looks like Strawberry Shortcake threw up in here!" LOL LOL LOL
MEN!!!!!
Maybe all the pink flowers WERE a bit much...........LOL.
Have a great weekend..........Kitty

Antique Show with pictures
Well it's Saturday, and you know what that means, garage sales, yeahhhh. I found a few things including a bedspread and set of curtains for my bedroom. Then we were supose to take mom to eat chinesse food for lunch. When I called to see if she was still coming, (and I'm glad I did) poor baby is having an aniexty attack because she thinks she doesn't have any clothes to wear. If you recall I went and cleaned out her closet and room this week, getting rid of about 80% of what she had. So poor thing thought she didn't have any more clothes. I assured her that still had clothes to wear, but by then she had worked herself into a tizzy. So I offered to just bring some food by for her. She was pleased with than option.
Kristy (dd) and I headed to the annual Antique show in a near by town. Here is a few pictures of what kind of things they had. The first picture is of my wonderful daughter and best friend, Kristy.

Kristy loves loves loves any type of glass wear, dishes, pottery, you name it. So she has to look at every piece, lol. She knew the names of almost everything there.

This is more my style of stuff, the old timey stuff. Stuff that brings back memories.

Loved the quilts!

This was my favorite piece, a mirror. I can't even begin to explain it, you just had to be there I guess.

It was $375, so needless to say, it stayed on that perch. LOL

This was all I could afford, the free candy..............LOL.

Kristy bought an old book to lay besides her night stand and a McCoy bowl, see I told you, she loves that stuff.
Well that's it for my antique show I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks for visiting and please come again, lol....................Kitty

Prayer Request

I have a large prayer request for someone very dear to me. My cousin Jennie who is a around my age recently went to the eye doctor to get a new prescription for her glasses. The reason for the visit was because she was having double vision and thought it was because her glasses were a little old. After changing her perscription and having no change in her vision, the eye dr. sent her to her family doctor who order an MRI done. After some extensive test they have discovered a brain tumor. If this tumor is not removed she will lose her sight and hearing, not to mention she will continue to have siesures. Well this Wednesday she is going to Baton Rouge to have a very long and extensive brain surgery.
She is trying to be strong for her family. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters, a 16 yo and a 6 yo. She has a wonderful life and feels God is throwing her a big test. I have tried to reassure her that God still needs her here for futher use, and that everything will be OK. As I said she is wonderful woman, cousin, mother, wife, daughter, and friend. She is the kind that would literally give you the shirt off of her back or the food from her plate if she thought you were cold or hungry.
As you can guess she is a nervous wreck, so I ask all who read this to please please please keep her in your prayers this week, especially on Wednesday during her operation. If it were me, they would have to pick me up off of the floor with a nervous breakdown or frozen with fear. But she is being so strong. I am going have lunch with her and two of her sisters today and I know that when I see her, I will break down like a baby.
Well again please say a special prayer for Jennie and her quick recovery. Thanks in advance and I will keep you posted on her progress. .........Kitty

Busy Day
Wow, it's almost 10 pm and I'm just getting to settle down with my blog. It has been a busy day today. First this morning dd and I headed out to a few garage sales. We were sad that they only had about 6 of them, usually the first Saturday of the month is full but I guess with the Labor Day weekend people will probably wait a week. I only spent $3 but I got something that I just love. I found this birthday and events organizer, it is brand new never used still had the wrapper on it. Kristy and I are always looking for vintage cards, any type of cards so this will come in so handy for me to get them organized. Here is what it looks like.

It has beautifully decorated seasonal pages, one for every month, with each date listed for keeping trac of who what and when.

And special pages for addresses, which I will fill soon.

It also came with 12 of the cutest cards with special pockets to put the cards.

The best part is that the previous owner paid $39.95 for it and never used it, but I paid only 25 cents and will get lots of use out of it. I love that! LOL
After g-saleing Kristy and I had to run back to town because she forgot to buy birthday gifts for the niece and nephew who were having parties today. I had mentioned in and earlier post that I have 5 birthdays in the family this weekend. We went to one for our little niece who turned 3, she got Strawberry Shortcake gifts, pretty easy. The second party was tonight for my husbands godchild who turned 21 today, not so easy. I ended up giving him cash, let him buy what he wants. That party is still going on, too many younguns smoking and the music was way too loud. I had to come home and take something for my headache. Dh said I was a party pooper, Oh well he could have stayed, but he didn't, so I guess we are both poopers.
Well, it's late and I am, as I said, pooped out. I'm baking a turkey for lunch tomorrow so I'd better get him out of the freezer tonight. Thanks for visiting......Kitty
