Thrifty Thursday

Posted in Thrifty Finds

Being thrifty  to me, means more than saving money, which I love to do.  I also like to  be thrifty with my  time too.

I love to bake bread in my bread machine, which by the way I got at a "thrift" store, lol.  So I have come up with a this little routine that I do each week to save a little time. I measure out all the dry ingredients included in my bread recipe and place them in   ziplock bags. I plan out how many loaves each week I will need and make that many bags.  That way all I have to do is add the cup of water, 2 tablespoons of butter, and the yeast on top. Then I hit the button, and it's off to freshly baked, smelling up the house goodness. Today I am baking two loaves, so that will save me some time with all ready busy day of cleaning and cooking.

Now, share with us your time saving  tips....................

What a great tip!!! I am still searchign for a good used bread baker myself!!!

Time saving tips huh?? One of mine is to morph meals. If I am having spaghetti today and some other meal with hamburger later, I might as well brown enough for both meals and place the extra in the fridge or freezer.

We like to freeze extra pancakes too!!! This way we pop them in the microwave for a minute and they are ready to eat without all the mess!!!

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

You are so smart. What is your bread recipe? Do yall use it instead of buying at the store? I've been thinking of doing that.

Kitty that is a GREAT idea...and since I have started baking fresh bread again using my machine I will follow your lead and do this also.
It's a good thing you are making two loaves today, Paul LOVES the fresh baked bread!!!! Maybe you should make three loaves.....he might be hungry when he gets there! LOL

This Blog

This is a blog about my everyday life on the "plantation". I live on a working sugar cane plantation called Leighton, in a 70 year old house that needs a lot of TLC. I live here with my husband of 19 years, Brian, our three children, one Mom with Alzheimers, some chickens, a few cats, a little Chihuahua who thinks this house is hers, and God by my side at all times. I'm a sahm of 18 years now. I homeschool our youngest, who is 15 and we both love it. I am in the homesteading mode now in this season of my life. I think living the simple life is the best way of living life. So come join me as I scribble down the ins and outs of my life on the "Plantation" here in south Louisiana. Want some sweet tea?
