Fire pits and things like that
The other day, Tee jee bee jee boy and Drew bee scoobie helped their grandma transform tsome old garden bricks into a fire-pit. They did a great job and we waited another day for the weather to cooperate so we could try it out. Grandma had some chocolate graham crakers, peanut butter chips and marshmallows, so we had a contest to come up with a name for our new treat. Each of the kids dropped their idea into a bowl and grandpa chose the winner after dinner. He picked Abbie Grace's choice "Marshy Madness" They were a very tasty treat, very likely to be enjoyed again by our troops.
Grandma, who is a wonderful artist, gave the children a lesson on light and shadow yesterday. They all did really well, looks like we might have a few budding artists on our hand. Grandma also gave the kids some art books and some watercolors to try when we get home. As she was showing us some pictures in one of the books, she commented on how difficult it is to draw faces. She said "One day, one of you can try this and send me a copy to hang on my fridge" Well, not even two hours later, Andrew is diligently working his way through the pages of this very book,. First, he drew some amazing pears, and then he began to work, and work ,and work, on a face for his grandma. He was struggling with the nose when it was time to leave for Hobby Lobby.
We took all eight kiddos and went shopping for a very cool project that Grandma has in mind to do before we leave. I got to pick the frame and my sweethearts will provide the work for the canvas...can't wait to see the finished project.
I have been loaded down with early Christmas gifts,an anniversary gift that I can't wait to get home and y out ( a new bedspread set that will match our fireplace fabulously!) and many other nifty, neat things. I keep teasing my mother in law that I am going to have to leave one of the children behind to get all of the stuff home..it''s not too far from the truth at this point!!
