My tribute to Terry
Posted on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 03:18 - Post Comment
Last week our dear friend Terry died, she had been battling cancer for about seven years now. It was time for her to go rest in the arms of her savior but still the loss is hard. Hard , obviously for her family , but for us so far away from the others who are greiving her loss. Here, no one is feeling our pain so it goes unspoken outside this house. This lady taught me to "live like I am dying" and to love like crazy. Her love in action has profoundly changed our home church in Scotland CT but also here in Africa. she gave my specail friends John, Beth and Mwangi so many things as well as me and my children. She sent special treasures and cards regularly and now she inspires me to do the same. She taught me to love the people on the sidelines and unpopular. Now here in Kenya I can befriend the toothless 40 yr lady with 12 children, and the single mother who still sleeps around and i can love them as they are today and love them for whom they can become. So now my friends at CFC and i must carry on her work which ultimately is the LORD"S work. See you soon Terry....

She must have been remarkable. What a blessing to have known someone so generous and loving!
May God give you peace and comfort during this time.

Getting Cards Ready

You are so right, friend! I need to start collecting cards to send out.... Sonny shared one in which she said, "you are looking red-faced again, so I am hoping you take some time to relax." We need to look out for his red face now! I sent you a private message - thanks for posting your thoughts, too. Love, Chris

I've done the same thing, Chris. Have a list of people to send some cards to! :) Not to duplicate Terry, but God has a way of using the example of others to bring our hearts to compassion! It's all about Love, isn't it? Being full of the Love of Christ and allowing that love to pour out to others with no thought of self. I don't know if I could do that as well as Terry did, but I pray about it all the time. Know that we are praying for you all, Ellen. Knowing that your grief is just as strong (or stronger) than ours. Love, Jennifer

Her service was beautiful...and they had some beautiful pictures of you in the slides they showed. I am sad that you can't physically be with us Ellen. I sorely miss you and your family. Sorry haven't gotten to read your blog...can you get a Myspace?

Ellen,
I was saddened to hear of Terry\'s passing. I didn\'t know her, but had met her once. I had heard many great things about her. Once my husband and I went to the tractor place and talked with her husband. I just asked how she was doing ( he doesn\'t even know us) and he went on to tell us all about her, and her generous nature and spirit. He told us how she used all their \"Disney Bucks\" (which he was saving for a trip to Disney) and bought a bunch of stuff for the kids at church. He just smiled and shook his head, he was never angry about it, he just seemed to .... expect it. He told us how she sold her business so she could be with her children as much as possible. It was so edifying to see how much he obviously cared for her. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and their children, as well as her many friends who mourn her loss.
I enjoy reading your blog and check in every month or so.
God Bless.
Steph
