It's raining again here in Kijabe. We are in the short rains season and this time last year they never came and the people suffered greatly because of it. This year they came and they are doing there job of filling the rivers and the ground with precious water!!! One of the problem here in Kijabe is most people don't have wells because it is solid rock below us so they go to the river to get their water. and most people can't afford water tanks to catch and store rain water. Fetching water is usually the women and children's job. I wish I could provide water tanks at a low cost for the community so water supplies would be readily available and would be clean. We are finishing up school next week!!! We are ready to slow down for a few weeks!! Here is a quick story for you. i was up at Little lambs last week and I had been noticing this one light skinned girl named Wanjiru. That name is Kikuyu so I wondered why she was so light skinned. Well the care givers told me her mother was a prositute and the father was an Arab. The mother is dead from AIDS and of course the father is long gone. So an old grandmother took her in and is raising her. This girl could be a model, her eyes are amazing and her hair is soft and her smile is small but captivating. She was very lerrie of me at first but now she is warming up to me. pray for girls like this, her self esteem is non existent, she is 14 and in 2nd grade and men prey on young gilrs like her all the time. The ladies at Little lambs are so good to her and she is blossoming every day. I have been going up to the center once a week now and I hope to go up 2-3 times a week once I have my scedule planned for next year. Sadie goes up with me although she can't stand them touching her hair and even though I tell them "doka hutie njuiri yake" they do it anyway!!!! Thanks for checking out my life here, it isn't always exciting but we are developing relationships and earning the respect from the people here. It takes time and we are willing to invest that time.

Donna Anderson here! Thanks for sharing all your experiences. Good to hear from you. I am working more in the school system as a nurse. A little boy broke his arm the other day. Poor thing! Do you need a nurse in Africa? ha ha...Deworming sounds interesting to me. I would hate it but I would want to inspect the worms. I would feel relief to get them out of the person. I see lice all the time and that is too much for me though. I get all itchy and stuff. I am singing solos still and enjoying that. The girls are doing swell. We were sick in Oct. Rachel had Pneumonia. Carl is doing great. He enjoys Men\'s group at Todd O\'s house. He is the Tax man at work now. He just came home from OK. I was missing him. I would not want to be a single mom either. It is hard enough. Hey my brother Skip is a changed man. A walking miracle of what God can do in a life if we let him. He has been depressed so long and now he is Angry Elf!! Did you watch Elf before? We told him to keep working out his feelings but don\'t stay angry!! He is scary a little bit. Just kiddin!! I know Sue keeps in touch...but wait till you see her. She looks like a bizillion bucks. We miss you. Happy Thanksgiving! What will you eat?

dokie...huh?

What does that mean that you wrote? Does it mean don't touch her hair? Very interesting to hear about the rain and all. How do you get your water? Do you have a system or do you fetch it like the others you mentioned. And if you do fetch it, have you mastered the art of carrying it on your head yet? I love to imagine that one. Are you able to post any pics on your blog? We would love to see some of that. Well I hope you and the family are having a great Thanksgiving and we are missing you and praying for you.
Love,
Connie
