"white people food"

I'll tell you what it is not, that's easier,it is not Getheri, ugali, mokimo, chepatis, mandazis or stew!!!! the kikuyus have a simple diet of the same foods, mostly maize and beans. As for how we got here, the short version of it is- My husband grew up here and left when he entered college. His father worked with a lady named Katy Mackinnon who was taking in abandoned babies. ( which by the way one of "her boys" is now a student here at Moffat!!! God is good) anyway, Bruce visited her home and was very touched as a young boy to have the burden for orphans. this was before AIDS and now of course the continent has MILLIONS of them. We met , married, made a family and the burden was still there. So, the 2003 we decided it was time to do want God laid in our hearts. That's why we are here. I most say though Africa is not an easy place, and anybody who does fostercare in the US knows that these children come with alot of "baggage". But we try are best to love them. Some days i feel like Africa has a way of chewing poeple up piece by piece, but still we must press on or we ( or I should say 'I" ) will grow bitter from all the disappointments. I told my friend Abraham, a young man whom I've mentioned before, that I couldn't make up the stories I've seen here. They make the American Soap opera look tame!! Speaking of Soap operas, I'll have you know- they are on TV here EVERY day. American culture at it finest!!! Got to run!!!

So what do YOU eat when you want white people food? Do you like the African food? I think cutlures are so interesting in their differences. Thanks for sharing the story of how you got there, too - Chris

I feel so sorry that those darn Soaps are on African TV. It's a bad enough influence on young people, girls in particular, in the states.

I am embarrassed that our country produces them :(

Glad you are there to show an example of God's love,

Patti
