The latest on God's doings in Kijabe

Yesterday I took Sadie, John, Beth and Mwangi to Nairobi. This was the trip they had been waiting patiently for!! It was a good, although Mwangi agreed to eat "white people" food then prompted told me he wanted stew and Chepatis (see other blog for what that is!!). Thankfully we were able to get chepatis so he ate four!! We also did some shopping which was fun too. I bought them each a sweater(second hand ones from America!) and flip flops. We also picked out a shirt for their father. What also was good was that i was able to tell John some things I felt God was showing me about him and his family. The other day I was bringing him home and a little chick fell into the garbage pit. John jumped down in and picked up the chick and put him under his mother. I told him God was doing that for him, holding him in his hand and protecting him. i don't want to get into specifics about their family but things are changing for good there, and i feel it is all God's work. he loves them and is using me in their lives in some ways but most of the things happening are all God's doings, not mine and i am thrilled to be in on the plan!!!! next week Moffat starts and Kijabe primary as well. I also started to memorize Matt 5-7. i did it a few years ago but i needed the discipline in my life again so I figured i would start with that. Even Matt 5:1 contains amazing truth, jesus sat down with the crowds. he didn't stand over them like a man of great importance but as a loving "equal" !! what an amazing God!!!!

So, Ellen, what "white people food" would he have consented to eat? Fries? Burgers? -Chris
P.S. Jen, are you out there? What's the Bright Lights deal? Would Joy have to go to every meeting? She did ask to go - by the way, we have a new address, I'll give it to Kelly if you want!

Each time you post I am more drawn to this little group you work with.
If you ever have time, I would love to hear how you ended up in Kenya; sort of a "How it all began" story.
I will keep you and those you care for in prayer,
Patti
