Pressing on towards the mark of the high calling of Christ

It 's been a week since my last entry. I am doing much better although the circumstances remain the same. I spent the day at Little Lambs with Lydia, Sadie and Elaine B. We had a fun time visiting and then we ate "nyama choma" with the director of the center , Jane W.. It was a relaxing time together. We saw some hopelessness that day but mostly hopeFULLness. Like the 3 teenagers who are raising their brothers and sisters. They stay on a compound together and they work together to raise their siblings. They are terribly poor but they are happy and they encourage each other on. Tommorrow we go to a home where a man and his wife are raising boys they took off the streets. We kind of acquired this ministry from a family who left Kenya permantely. We just encourage him and handle the American money he receives. Actually we just hand him the money because it is his family and he and his wife are doing a wonderful job raising these 6 boys. We are going tommorrow with cake, books and encouragement. We hope that when our church comes outon a work team trip we can build them a bathroom and make curtians for them. My kids start school on Tuesday. We are all looking forward to a routined life again. the rest was good (although Bruce never got a rest!!!!) but now we are ready to work. Saturday our friends, I call them" ciana ciakwa ka gikoyo" my kikuyu children are coming for the day. That is john, Beth and Mwangi. Beth mwihaki loves to play dolls with Sadie and is waiting with bated breathe for ADDY to arrive here!!!! We are so excited that she will have a doll that looks like her to play with!!! Mwangi and John ride bikes and eat me out of house and home. Every week we write letters to each other, and last week I told Mwihaki she is the most beautiful African girl!!! She walked in last Sunday and Kimberly and I were both struck by her beauty!!! We love her smile and laugh!!! Well, I have to end it here because i have to put my kids to BED!!!!!!!!! Love and miss you more each day!!!

Hi, Ellen - it's fun to hear about your Kenya children, too. I am glad you are feeling a bit better about things there.... Summer flew by. When is a work crew planning on going there? Can't you ask some ladies here to make curtains and send them over? -Chris

I thought the same thing

What if you gave measurements and color choices and had someone sew, then mail the curtains to you. I suppose it's a big job, but what a neat thing to be a part of.

You sound much more hopeful today and I thank God for His enduring grace; the strength to carry on!

God Bless you,

Patti
