I NEVER said anything about scratch!!!!!!!
Posted on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 10:07 - Post Comment
When we first got here I was making cakes from scratch but one day I was walking down the isle of our African version of Walmart and I saw that old fimilair red spoon on a box with a lady named Betty on it, so I bought it!! And I've been making my favoriteboxed cakes ever since!! I did wear my apron though , Chris!!!!! My deworming day went great, no problems at all, they just sucked it down and smiled!!! We have been sooooo busy here, to busy, and I'm getting testy by the end of the day but the end is in sight!!! In 2 weeks things will slow down for a few weeks. We heard through the inside CFC that Tal is accepted with AIM!! We are so excited because that program he is joining is training and ministry to totally unreached people groups!! But it is not for the fainted hearted, becuase you basically give up all your western ways including sitting while releiving yourself (both ways). Tell him that!!!!!! As for jen's blog situation, it is kind of wierd to know anyone can read about my life so I can understand his feelings..... Love healing from you guys.... Where's Arriane?>>>>>>
Uh, Relief?

Ellen: I don't want to be the one to tell Tal about the "relief" customs you have there.... TMI (too much information). Glad the deworming went well. What does your apron look like? I'll bet it's very bright and colorful. Mine look like my grandmother's.
Still love hearing from you - and if you're in the mood, check my recent blog. I share how to make butter in a canning jar (something for a rainy day?). But maybe that doens't float your boat if you're glad you found Betty over there (heh heh). Lots of love to you & Bruce & kids - I'll ask Arianne why she doesn't read your blog. -Chris

OK, I gave in and mentioned something to Tal about the relief factor. He said he already knew about that. I guess he's prepared.....

Hey Ellen!
Isn't it so much easier to open the box. I make my kids birthday cakes every year and this year I picked out a cake to make from scratch and it turned out hard as a rock. I should have stuck with the boxed! It is great to read about all your adventures. Not really any here. I lead a pretty boring life. I find it keeps me out of touble. :) We just got back from our annual family camping trip, which was fun. Now we are trying to catch up on zzz's from all the late nights around the campfire. I haven't really blogged, although have set up one I only wrote in it once. I just enjoy reading yours and Chris' and making a comment here and there. I look forward to hearing more about your life there. -Connie

I'm so glad to hear about the boxed cake!! I almost lost my image of you...aprons, baking cakes...I actually thought you were COOKING!! :) he he For anyone with rock hard cakes, I give cooking lessons on basic 3-egg cakes once a month (only if it is a b-day month, mind you! ha ha We do hit several of them a year!) Kidding!!!
Take time to slow down and smell the...smell the...well, smell whatever it is over there that you can smell! Give everyone our love. Jennifer
