The real star of the show

Posted on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 05:40 - Post Comment

Today I went to a new primary school with the Moffatt students, in a place where white people never go. So of course when i walked into the room the children were so excited. I felt like a movie star, everybody wanted to touch me and they crowded around me just to be close to me. I have to say that is like feeding my ego a steak and mash potato meal. it is so easy to get prideful and think it is all about ME!!! I want to love and serve people for God but I really want God to get the credit but my ego wants Me to get the credit for the work. it is an ongoing battle that I fight in all aspects of my life. The moffat students are wonderful, and since I always ask for prayer ,please say a quick prayer for Kim , a Kiligen ( a tribe of Kenya). he is very short on school fees because of failed tea harvest . I beleive God hears our prayers and wants to show his glory and LOVE for us ,so pray!!! Still pray for my little friends and thier father. i saw them yesterday and they were all smiling so that was a miracle right there!!

I know God wants to be glorified and one reason Jesus did so many miracles was to exhibit the Father's love (and power) and to direct their eyes toward Him!

I will pray for the young person who had the failed tea crop. Our Father in heaven owns the cattle on a thousand hills, so He can fill that need!

May God Bless you!

Patti

Touching

Hi, Ellen.. that always amazes me that they want to touch you, kind of see that you're real even though you're different. Or because you're different, I'm not sure. I watched that movie this week, End of the Spear, and when the lady missionaries went to be with the Waenobi tribe they got touched, too - all of them, even the kids - and one lady who thought the little boy was not really a boy thought she'd check for herself, and so she did - she promptly pulled open his drawers and had a look (they'd never seen a blond boy before). Anyway, here's prayers for your tea farmer friend and again for the family. How do you say until later, friend, in their language? P.S. I know what you mean about how it feels to your ego. It is a struggle.

Ego

It so easy for that ole Ego to grow, isn't it? I'll be praying for you, my friend! How is Lydia? Is she feeling better? I hope the rest of you don't get sick. Tell everyone we said hi! Jennifer (you do know who this is, right??? Maybe I should say that the Salveggio crew says hi to the Kinzer crew!)

Glad to be able to "hear" from you...

Ellen,
Isn't the age of internet amazing? I have thought of you and your family often and have wondered how you were making out in Kenya. May God bless your work there. I look forward to reading your updates.
God Bless,
Steph (jen's sis)
p.s. we welcomed baby no. 10 into the world on June 27th. I am constantly reminded of God's miracles.

Encouragement

Howdy Ellen and crew,

Miss seeing all you Kinzers. Resting assure knowing the Lord has you working His fields. (extra hugs for my little miss Lyia girl from Miss Mary... especially since she wasn\'t feeling so well.) And as far as battling pride and the ego thing, look no further than the cross. God has graciously provided an end to pride and ego through His Son, Jesus. Praise the precious name of Jesus forever!

Keeping you lifted before the throne of grace always.

Mary W.

This is Awesome!

It is so good to know exactly what to pray for in a timely manner! Since today is the 4th of July, Kate and I were thinking about how you had fireworks at your house last year and how much we miss you! She started crying about Lydia...anyway, we love you and will continue to pray for you and your work!
Love, Tresa
