I had a long post that disappeared yesterday. Oh well.
What is a mom to do? Save the fabric and the pattern until after the yard sale season begins of course! I love to sew, don't get me wrong, but my time with my family is precious. More precious to me is playing with my daughters than sitting alone at the sewing machine. I have much of next winter's clothing already purchased. I hit an awesome sale at Old Navy, on the very first day of their 75% off sale... I loaded up on lot of stuff. I also found out that JCPenney was having 75% off and bought four new winter coats, two robes, pajamas, leotards for my daughter who is starting gymnastics, etc. I rarely buy anything new. and hardly ever for regular retail price. I have taught my children that it doesn't matter what the latest trend is, it matters what its going to cost their dad in wages. He works very hard to provide for us and it would be such a waste to spend that money foolishly. My sons have their own taste in clothing. Neither one likes short shorts, denim or cargo ones are fine. It is a bit harder to find their sizes at yard sales, so I watch for decent sales and if the grandparents ask then I tell them what is needed. Practical items are always the best gift to my kids.
