solo parentis

My dear husband has been gone since Tuesday. An area south of us was hit hard with flooding and a division of his company needed more drivers to help with the trash hauling, so he went.  He was supposed to come home today.  Instead they are keeping him for another week.

I am caught between enjoying the time with the five kids and wanting to pull my hair out.  My situation is temporary... single parenting is definitely not something I would want to attempt for any length of time.  My bonnet is off to those who do this day in and day out.

I miss my husband.  Silly me... whenever we would go away from our home it was either together as a family, Ken and I alone, Me with the kids, or me alone.  Very rarely has he been away.  I asked him last night on the phone if when I am away does he feel that emptiness inside?  He said yes and he can't sleep either.

He has asked me to come down to where he is this weekend, so I am off to ask my parents if they will come watch the kids.

To keep on my homesteading track... today we are powerwashing the front of the house.  If the weather clears up there is mowing to do, and I hope to get the pumpkin patch in the ground... its sorta late, but we are going to try anyway!
