• Mar. 1, 2006 - Loving Lavender

I am starting to make some of my own household cleaners and products.

I have made lavender deodarant   - so far works great!

I have usually made my own floor cleaner...hot water, dish detergent and bleach, but I am cutting out the bleach so today I made hot water, dish detergent (7th generation) and several drops of lavendar essential oil.  It smelled wonderful as I was mopping the floor.

I them made my own counter top cleaner.  I took a recipe I had learned from the "Queen of Clean" and again adapted it, so I wasnt using bleach.  In a spray bottle add 1 TBSP borax, 1 TBSP of baking soda.  Fill 1/2 way up with white vinegar (instead of bleach, which I would only use a 1/2 cup of) and added a few drops of lavendar essential oil.  Not only does lavender smell good, but it is antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial.....and the anti that I cant remember!

Loving the way my house smells.

Great! you are trying the deodorent thing too! So when my oils come next month I can see how you are doing.

Post away with things you do with your oils. Newbie to all things like this - I just print away...

I went to town yesterday and tried to find essential oils but no one carried them. I know I've seen them in a pharmacy in another town before, as a matter of fact I bought one (clove oil) for a dry socket when hubby had one..works!), so I'll check there first before I order some. I can't wait to try out your deodorant!

• Mar. 3, 2006 - Baking soda as a cleaner

Posted by Lora K.
I don't know if you saw my post the other day on MIHM but I found this great book at the library http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0916773418/qid=1141414871/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-8231064-6318241?s=books&v=glance&n=283155
It has hundreds of geat ideas for uses of baking soda. I tried the one about cleaning your tub with it. You just sprinkle baking soda around the tub when it's wet, then get a sponge with cheap shampoo on it and clean. It works much better than those smelly chemical cleaners!

In Him,
Lora
