• Apr. 30, 2007 - Chickens and Armpits
Ok, so the one doesnt have anything to do with the other (unless you are talking about the armpits of a chicken) but I thought it was a catchy title.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, my husband has been working on making the chicken coop secure. He removed all the fencing (which was coming loose) and replaced it etc. He hasn't gotten to stage two which makes the fence higher than 3ft tall (we did have chicken wire around it, but it was beaten down, coming loose etc, so we are hoping to replace it with lattice at the top of the fence, in the meantime they can still fly over the fence.
Anyway the chickens had started laying their eggs in the back of one of my boys plastic cars (you know the kind they sit in with the steering wheel and they push with their feet and are usually orange & yellow, well this one is the blue deluxe version with a little space in the back where they can put stuff) Anyway the chickens had turned the back of it into a laying box.
So last night the chickens spent the night in their improved coop after we showed them the perch for them to spend the night on (instead of perching on our back porch).
Wouldnt you know it this morning, they flew over the fence so they could lay eggs in the back of the car......(yes their is a laying box in the coop and they all used to use it). Go figure.
As for the armpits....just thought I would share a life lesson with you. Dont use your husbands battery operated razor to shave your armpits....ask me how I know! Ouch. |
