Well, I got up early today...even though my body kept telling me to go
back to sleep (I cant wait until my cat is done being in heat, so I can
get a little more of that) to go to co-op today. Turns out it was
cancelled because a lot of the families were sick...glad I got the
message before we went.
So while hubby was still home, I ran up to the out of town library to
return some books, stopped by the grocery and found some WASHING
SODA! Yeah...it is put out by Arm & Hammer and is called
Super Washing Soda, so I am hoping it is the same stuff that every one
is talking about. I also picked up a bar of Fels Naph (not sure
of spelling) to give it a try...I figured it is more economical than
buying a bottle of Zout...(great stuff, but probably toxic...I dont
know if the Fels is or not). I also picked up some 7th generation
dish washer detergent (to give it a try since it is enviromental
friendly and see if I can stretch it with my baking soda and borax) and
some seventh generation dishwashing soap, which I love so far it is
very foamy and the foam lasts. LOL! I am still looking for
castile soap. My sister said she found some at Meijers, but she
lives in the south and they dont have any in SE, PA (that I know
of)..so I might try other local grocery stores and then perhaps Wegmans
(which is a 1/2 hour away) Blah, blah, blah.
I didnt make bread, since we still had some of the white poison stuff to use up, so I will probably do that tomorrow.
Now for the most exciting part of my day. My hubby had to go to
the local feed store, which is more than a feed store they have a lot
of stuff that you cant find other places like sodium hydroxide (lye)
etc. He picked up a chicken info sheet and pamplet while he was
there. I can order chickens through them, but my option on breeds
is limited...BUT their ordering minimum is 2 instead of 25 like
McMurray's. I am so excited...I feel as though my chicken dream
is becoming a reality...hubby says he guesses he should start building
a chicken coop! I have a choice of Rhode Island Reds,
Leghorns (they dont say what color, just white eggs), Sex Sal Link,
whatever that is and Barfred Plymouth Rock. We will probably go
with all Rhode Island Red since they are multipurposeful and hubby
doesnt want to worry about them "not getting along" as a mixed
group...I am a bit dissappointed about that, but at least I can have
chickens...YEAH!!!!
After rereading my post and everyone's comments on chocolate cake I
went and made one...and speaking about chocolate..I need to go finish
reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" to the kiddos....we are
almost done!
have a great day..I may post more later...hopefully it will be more exciting or informative reading for you!
