Last night was my Pampered Chef Party. We had a lot of fun.
My sister was able to come. I learned that you could use the
round end of the cake tester for a bubble wand.
My son Zachary (3yo) asked me about a picture in our Nature
Encyclopedia...he said "Are they snakes or worms?" and I said,
"Worms". He replies "Because they don't have tongues?" He
is such a smart little boy.
Whenever he used to ramble on and I was thinking about something else,
I would say "Oh, yes?", he soon caught on and would say, "Not Oh, Yes!"
and it would cause me to pay attention to what he was really
saying. Poor Zach was sick this morning. He had already had the
stomach virus right after Christmas...so I am not sure if it is a
replay of that or something else.
I found that you can get flavored seltzer water, and it is even cheaper
than soda...which I have cut out of my diet. The best thing is
that this has "No Sugar", the bad thing is my girls didnt like
it....maybe they will get used to since we are gradually cutting
refined sugars out of our diet. I was hoping to be able to use it as a
special treat. I made the decision to cut out soda when I learned that
it absorbed nutrients from you body....I had thought it was the
phosphoric acid (hey its great for cleaning corroded battery cables)..I
have since learned that it is refined sugar that absorbs the nutrients
from your body (read "Get the Sugar Out" by Ann Gittleman) I have
decided to call this change of eating that I am doing a "Whole Foods
Diet" as I would like to eat everything as close to its natural whole
state as possible. There may be a diet out there called that
already, but I havent researched it.
I ended up going ahead and screwed the bulletin board above my computer
until my hubby moves the new computer desk in. I thought we
should paint the living room and dining room trim the same burgandy I
painted the bulletin board frame but hubby thinks that would be too
much and look commercial instead of homelike (our walls are going to be
a Cafe Ole color)...he wants to go with white. So maybe I will
use the paint and paint my little pantry (which used to be a paint
cabinet and when we have a real pantry built will become a school
cabinet). It has to be better than the light mustard peeling
color that it is. :0). I did finish sewing curtains for the
dining room.
Last fall I got tired of living in a fish bowl and since I couldnt
afford to buy what I had wanted for the window it has been bare since
we moved back from NY in April. I just threw up a sheet or
blanket whenever we had company spending the night and really needed
the privacy. Well I prayed that the Lord would show me an
inexpensive way to have curtains. I knew the style and color that
I wanted, but for about 10.00/panel and I would need 4 of the store
bought panels (these were the Walmart ones too), plus 20.00 for the rod
it just wasnt doable. Anyway I decided to make my own. I
went to Ollie's and bought 2 faux wrought iron extending
rods (with the arrows on the ends) for 1.99 each. The way I
combined them I had enough left over for the small dining room window.
I then bought 2 twin sheets for 3.96 each. I took them home
and where the large hem is on the sheet cut out squares to give it the
checker top look and hung them. They were very long...so thursday
I trimmed them to fit the window plus a seam allowance and took the cut
offs and hemmed them and were able to hand them up. I just need
to do the cutouts at the top so they match the living room
curtains. To see what I mean by the cut out tops...click here...they look similar to this.
A funny thing happened last night. When the consultant came our
cat kept check out and attacker her bags. When my nephew came and
girls arrived back home they were looking for the cat. Turns out
she curled up on the consultants big rolling bag which was hidden under
the table and the long tablecloth and took a nap. We discovered
her when she pulled out her bag to get something.
Well that is all for now!
