Woke up this morning and put some bananas, strawberries and milk in the blender and had a yummy milk shake.  Would have added ice, but didnt have any, so I filled my trays and put them in the freezer for next time (if my little ones dont eat them before then....they love ice) :)  My girls took their leftover milk shakes and put them in the freezer to make "banana split" they want to add chocolate topping later when they go to eat them.  So much for healthy.

Found a real cool website called "Debra Lynn Dadd".  The title isnt very inspring, but has a lot of good content on being more enviromental friendly.  I really like this paragraph on her "How I Control Pests" page:

"Moral of the story for us was...if we have a pest problem, look around for waste--too much, piled up, sitting around not moving, needing to be evacuated = bug infestation. People tend to kill bugs and leave the garbage. I really learned that night that pests they are nature's way of letting us know things are out of order. So we went on a big campaign of handling all of our "out-of-orders" (leaking pipes, unwashed dishes, unswept floors, piles of unnecessary stuff, etc) so as to "appease the palmetto bug inspectors". You just can't ignore the laws of nature without consequences! And that did it...no pesticides needed."

How we got our wheat is a very good article. I have been investigating getting a grain mill and this just helped my research. Thank you.

Think about this outside in nature, for example, at our home we have a patch of grass along the tree line that is almost bald, although the rest of the yard looks green and lush. When we walk through the grass we have loads of grasshoppers and crickets hopping wildly. We looked up grasshoppers and learned they are herbivores. The little green suckers have been chomping away on our grass!

The only way to kill the over abundance of the little green monsters is Sevin Dust, but that chemical wipes out everything. So we showed the kids that 'nature' has gotten a bit out of balance, and we went out with our bug catcher and caught TONS of them, used them for fishing, (drowned hoppers drowned! Of course the kids were quoting lines from the movie 'Bugs Life' at this point) we also found some frogs and put them along the woods and in our front yard and so far, the population has stayed down. We still have to many for my liking, but the frogs will hopefully catch up.

Oh, here's another, the little green catepillars, that I posted a picture of, instead of killing them with a chemical we pick them and the boys take care of the rest (Not near me because green guts go everywhere YUCK!!) no chemicals on my tomatoes!
:-)

Sorry for the long post!
