• Jan. 17, 2006 - Ramblins

My husband loves dumpster diving, treasure hunting, trash picking...whatever you would like to call it.  He had brought home last year some things he had salvaged from a dumpster where an office building had a fire.  One of those things was a nice size bulletin board.  At the time I had no idea what to do with and for all I cared he could put it back in the trash.  We moved it with us back from NY to PA and it kept getting in the way, finally the year ended and the huge calendar I had on the side of the filing cabinet was gone.  The only new calendar we had was a regular size one.  Well I needed a place to hang it as well as our new church nursery schedule so I thought about the bulletin board.  Yes it would fit nicely above the computer and the phone station....it just needs a little sprucing up...out to hubby's garage/workshop....no paint brush.  My husband is a  home improvements repair guy...independent contractor if you want, and he was doing a major paint job in Philly an hour away.....so I asked him to bring me home a paint brush.  He finally did yesterday (and gave it to me today).   So this afternoon while my little blessings are sleeping/quiet time, I go down to the basement and set up my little paint station.  After opening a can of primer as hard as a rock, I was sucessful in finding some that was a least paintable.  So now my bulletin board frame is primed and in a few hours will be ready to be painted a pretty burgandy.  When that dries I will staple some gold wrapping paper over bulletin board.  Hopefully it will look nice when it is done.  Just need to grab some drywall screws, screw it into our wall and tada!  Can't wait.

I will need to get my little lambs up in a half hour, get the boys dressed who are still in their jamies, because we all have colds and arent feeling that well and run out to get our raw milk for the week.  I am wishing that 50 degree weather back, I can tell you.....did I ever tell you that I really dont like winter.  I think we should shorten winter to one month..and divy up the rest of the week between the other three months...what do you say.

After the milk pickup I will stop by Aldi's (discounted grocery store) and pick up some staples including the poisonous white flour, so I can make some bread that is healthier than the even more poisonous store bought bread.  Next week I can buy my grinder.  YEAH!!!!

Well I guess that is enough ramblin for now.....it was even this or a rant on the goverment which I have been trying to surpress the past few days.  :)  Have a great day.

My husband enjoys finding *treasures* as well, one is our porch swing! He brought it home a few yrs back and I about DIED! It was HORRIBLE! But he stripped it and varnished it and it is lovely! I love sitting out on my *freebie* swing during spring and summer!

This is to funny, I've often wondered about some of the treasures my boys have brought home (you see they've learned this skill from there father) and how they would work out, and why we hang on to it, but sure enough we will find a use for it!
I agree with the winter thought, but maybe increase it to two really cold months so that we can kill these huge mosquitos we have down south!

that just found a home a few months ago...I am not near as creative as you...I just hung it up!! :) But I hung it in my SMALL TINY kitchen (that only I fit in, really) and I hung it above the sink. I have some really neat quotes, thought provoking ones, some scriptures and some ideas for schedules, cleaning...just something to keep me motivated while doing dishes EVERYDAY!! It's very nice...

You are too funny calling your flour poisonous. We call it the "Death" bread or the "Death" crackers. My kids even do this, my honey thinks I have brainwashed everyone. I think it is great, because it is poisonous and death. Good job!
Blessings,
Andrea
