• Jun. 30, 2006 - Flooding and chickens
Just thought I would update you with what is going on in our neck of
the woods! My quiet blog is only a result of our enjoying our summer,
not from being drowned from all the rain that has saturated our
area! While I live about a 1/2 mile from the Schuykill rive,r our
neighborhood has been spared much of the water that has inundated many
houses that our closer (only little puddles in the basement)!
Thanks for the kind offers of a boat if we need it, our one extended
family member who does, already has a boat!
On a different note, we lost another chicken to the dog, time to add a
little more chicken wire to fence. I awoke Wednesday morning to
the dog barking his "I need some attention here" bark. I look out the
window to see him barking over one of the chickens. I ran outside
to find a half defeather and missing some skin chicken. I wildly
looked around for an axe to put the chicken out of its misery, unable
to find one I solicited the help of my husband who did the
honors. After cleaning up the bloody mess (I picked
up the chicken by its feet forgetting the saying about a "chicken with
it's head cut off). There wasnt enough meat on the
chicken to salvage, so we didnt, besides at that point my adrenanline
rush has gone and I was starting to feel sick to my stomach.
Well other than going to free movies, the park, playing in the yard and
swimming , there is not much else to report on. I hope you all
(y'all for you southerners) are having a blessed summer!
