• Jun. 17, 2006 - PraiseMoves - A Christian Alternative to Yoga
I have been hearing for years about the great benefits of yoga, and
while interested, have never tried it because I knew that it was
grounded in Hinduism. Recently a friend of mine blogged about her
discover of PraiseMoves - A Christian Alternative to Yoga.
Usually I am leary of "Christian Alternatives" because I usually feel
like Christians are trying to copy the world instead of being an
example to them, but because of my previous interest, decided to check
out the website http://www.praisemoves.com . I was really impressed with Laurette Willis' (the founder) testimony and article "Why A Christian Alternative to Yoga" . I was especially engaged by the writeup of the DVD "PraiseMoves Alphabetics"
She has created a stretching move for each letter of the Hebrew
Alphabet. So I ordered the DVD. I received it today and
previewed it. I absolutely love it! She gives a little
background about the Hebrew Alphabet and recommends a book called
"Hebrew in Pictures" which looks fascinating. She begins her DVD
with prayer. Their are three workouts on the DVD, one goes
through Psalm 119 (the longest book in the Bible, each section starts
with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet), one goes through the Lord's
Prayer, this one is more brief, but the flow is beautiful and the last
one goes through Proverbs 31....the last 22 verses. Did you know
that the verses about the virtuous woman begins with a letter of the
Hebrew Alphabet (from A - Z) I didnt either. After viewing
and trying the Lord's Prayer, I feel like I had just had my devotions
as well as exercised! WOW, what a great feeling.
