In search of shorts.....

{ 07:20, 2006-Jul-29 } { 2 comments } { Link }

We went back to school shopping yesterday up in St. Augustine.... as a kid I remember how excited I was to be able to pick out a bunch of new clothes all at once! But as a mom I see things differently, the price - YIKES! I gave my two children (Kristopher -17 & Kelly - 11) a budget of $100.00 each to work with, Well we started off at Target (I usually love that store) but all the shorts & skirts are barely long enough to cover the butt. We moved on to Marshalls, my daughter found two shirts that we picked up, but again those short shorts. Then we were at Beals, my son picked up a couple of shorts & shirts he was happy, my daughter found more shirts but still no regular jean shorts. We come home and they tried it all on - Nothing fits!! Everything but one shirt is going back, not sure if the sizes are running smaller or the clothes are just cut to fit so tight but even the tee shirts my daughter bought in the junior/womens section are too small and they are a large.... She is only 11 years old and barely 100 pounds. Oh well we will have to go all the way back up there today and return and see what we can get. I am still in search of a reg. pair of blue jean shorts.... they have to be out there somewhere!

Have a great Weekend!!

Harder for girls

I know just what you mean. My daughter is 15, 5'2" about 120 lbs-not a big girl at all. We went to Ross and she must have tried on 20 pair of jeans. Out of all that we bought two pair because the rest were such low cut "low-rise"- her behind showed if she moved.

I look in the windows of some of the stores for young women and I think :"There must be a mistake" because the shirts look like they were sewn for a toddler!

Good luck with the wardrobe.

We went to Vero Beach last weekend to try to find some clothes for my oldest ds while things are tax free. He is super skinny in the waist and tall so finding jeans and shorts for him is a nightmare. We made him try on everything before buying (he hated that LOL) and found him a few things at JCPenney. We went to the mall here during the week to try to find more for him and I needed some denim shorts for myself (finally found those at JCPenney here locally).

Do you have a BJ's (warehouse club) nearby? We received a free 60 day membership and went last night. I noticed they had lots of denim shorts and jeans (not a wide variety of choices, but quantity wise a lot).

I love to stop at the outlets in St. Augustine whenever we're on our way home from a trip! My hubby dreads coming home because he knows I'll want to stop. LOL
