OH!!! I am sooooooooo glad to be home!!!! I was:
Okay, it sounds like I'm spoiled, I know. But I failed to pack these all-important things. I would have rather forgotten my shampoo, hair dryer, pajamas, etc. and HAD all the things on the aforementioned list. (Is "aforementioned" hyphenated?) Anyway, I KNEW before we left that my dh, ds and b-i-l would be playing golf Sat. afternoon, Sun. afternoon and this morning and I KNEW that my 2 dd and my m-i-l would be sitting around with nothing to do. It was soooo dumb for us to even go on this trip. I mean, if it weren't for Perry (my ds, yes, he IS darling even with this golf obsession), NO ONE would be playing golf (except for miniature golf) and we'd be running around playing games, hiking, shopping, swimming, etc. Now, granted, the pool was closed for remodeling and we didn't know that until we got there, so that was no one in my family's fault, but still. It was just a weekend for Perry to play golf, play golf and to play golf. And, both nights, he putted around on the miniature golf course that the motel had. Oh, I forgot to say that I slept w/Lacey and she SNORES! Well, she doesn't snore a lot, but she's stopped up and she also has this thing where she sucks on her tongue while she sleeps and when she's not snoring, she's doing that and it sounds like Perry with he used to suck his thumb. You could hear it in the next room! I HAVE TO SAY that years from now when all 3 children are gone, I'll wish for these days. See, I'm already getting teary-eyed just typing this. Okay, I'll type about something else. One of the 2 times that we went to play putt-putt, Molly and I played pool instead. I was just 75 cents to play. It was so weird because I've been playing pool on Pogo Games and I'm pretty good at that. But it was so different playing it for real. I already knew a lot about playing it for real when I began playing it on Pogo, but still. The other time we played putt-putt it was at one where each hole is shaped like a different Texas/cowboy theme. There was a cowboy hat, cowboy boot, saddle, rifle, pistol, cow skull, bag of money, coffin, paddle, etc. They were real cute. We had played there a few years ago. But each one was HARD! I just couldn't win for losing! Plus, it was real busy. Afterward, M & L got ice cream. When we got back to the room, we played a game (actually, an activity) where I ask a question from a stack of cards and each one of us writes down our answer on a pad of paper with a fat magic marker and then we hold up our answers. It's kind of a different way to have a conversation about different things. I like how we hold up our answers instead of saying them. Questions like, "what historical event do you remember the most" or "what is your greatest strength and weakness." Oh, there was something disappointing at Park Mammoth. The train is no longer running. The front desk lady said they stopped running it about a year ago because it was costing too much money to keep it up. She said it's on "the internet" for sale for $100,000. It doesn't seem worth that much. I couldn't find it on the internet. Of course, I don't know how to look for it other than on Google and typing in different combinations of train and park mammoth, etc. The track looked like it hadn't run for longer than a year, but it never was in very good shape to begin with. The lady said that some people walk it, but to watch out for copperheads. I thought copperhead snakes lived near water and there's no water there close by. Oh well. I know this is long, so, so long! |
