Well, let's see, where to start?  Not much exciting going on.  The foundation is being built across the street and their mortar mixer squeaks like a bunch of birds fighting.  The guy came today to tune the piano and there were 4 things to fix: squeaky pedal, 2 sticking keys and a note that sounded weak.  I went to Jan's to put in 2 light fixtures while he was here.  I called the "dream basement" people to see what the minimum ceiling height is and she said, "80 inches".  Ours is 91 inches.  That's low for me, and will be even lower if we finish the basement.  I don't want to pay someone to do it; I want to do it all myself, but dh wants to borrow the money and have it all done and get it over with.  The only good thing I see with having it done by some "basement professionals" is that their material are not a "food source", meaning that no bugs or other things besides humans will want to eat it, and, thereby destroying your home.  I don't even want to fully finish the basement.  I think it's great to have it and not have to keep it nice like the rest of the house.  Sure, I want to paint the concrete walls and cover the stud walls that we do have with drywall, but I don't even want to "finish" the drywall with mud, just leave 'em like they are.  I've done A LOT already on some of the walls and he knows it.   I think he doesn't know that everything I've done will go "bye-bye" (we use that phrase a bunch).  ANYWAY, I'll just keep planning my own basement remodel and he can dream his and then reality will hit him and we'll do it my way (much less expensively!).

Band starts tomorrow and Molly still says she doesn't want to do it.  I don't know what to do.  She seems pretty adamant, too.  I guess I made a mistake to jump into it so big.  I should've told her to try to get her friends to all play an instrument and it'll be fun, but I said, "You're going to be in band and play the flute and I'm going to come and tutor the flutes (like I did 4 years ago with my oldest) and Thursday afternoons all flute players can come to our house for a group lesson (since I'm a piano teacher, I'm used to teaching kids music in our home)."  I've told the 2 band directors  So, she's saying, "I'm NOT going to be in band, mom."  I've told the 2 band directors that I'll be there to help.  I still can go to help the flutes, but it won't be the same if Molly's not in there.  Ho, hum.

One more thing:   Lacey reading "Nick, The Fix-It Man"
