Still hot

It's still so hot.  It's supposed to be 102 tomorrow!

Yesterday at MIT no one came.  I knew Susan wouldn't be there, though.  The principal said she would put it in the Natcher Notes, but she didn't.  I'll have to remind her.  I've made postcards to mail to moms I know COULD come.  And I'll GIVE some to some other moms that I don't mail them to.  I started thinking that it would be so neat if the principal took an hour to come to our meeting sometime.  Now that we have an assistant principal she might could take a "personal hour", like you would if you were going to the dr. or something.

We've been turning on the sprinkler some during the night to water the grass.  I don't think it's helping, though.  It's been dry for too long.  There are spots that look good and spots that look terrible.  I think that's because of poor soil vs good soil, instead of not watering vs watering.

Someone in the neighborhood was throwing away one of those ladders that have steps on each side for an above ground pool.  I got it and am going to put it in the basement for just a ladder.  I got one once before from the trash at a house near church and gave it to my neighbor for their trampoline.  It works great!  They had used a lawn chair and it had broken.  They used another one and it broke, too.  I believe that was because the guy who used to mow their yard would push the trampoline and the chair together WITH HIS LAWN MOWER!  He was determined to mow it WITHOUT getting off the mower!!!  He also got the trampoline out of whack.  But, eventually, someone vandalized some things in the neighborhood and they burned some holes on the jumping surface and my neighbors got a new one.  This one has a "fence" around it.  ANYWAY, I'm proud of my garbage find.

Speaking of garbage find, I'll list some things I've gotten out of people's/store's garbage:

  1. Wreath with seashells.  (I since sold it at a yard sale)
  2. 2 wrought iron chairs.  (my neighbor's, I sold it at a yard sale, too.)
  3. Stroller.  (same neighbor! same yard sale!)
  4. Shoe rack.  (yard sale)
  5. Art easel.  (yard sale)  (some to think of it, I sold most of these at our yard sale!!!)
  6. 3 garden hose "reeler uppers".
  7. Refrigerator water line (new).
  8. Dishwasher drain hose (new).
  9. Drawers from a kitchen.
  10. Another shoe rack that's wall mounted and I put video tapes in it.
  11. 6 Closet doors that I've made long shelves (I love these!).
  12. Rubber tie downs (found on the side of the road or in the road).
  13. Big mirror (corner chipped, still on the floor in my dining room, just haven't framed it yet).
  14. Lots of mop handles.
  15. I know there are more!  I'll try to list them tomorrow!

Hi Julie! isn't it fun to see what you can find that someone else has thrown away. At our dump, they still allow people to go through stuff as long as you dont make a mess. We have come home with all kinds of things. The last thing my hubby brought home was three pair of brand new jeans in his size(which was amazing) No one wears his size. That must be why they ended up in the dump!!!
Have a blessed day!
Jamie
