Jubilee Farm

My Introduction

Jubilee Farms began early in Sept when we purchased an old 35 acre farm. It was

owned by an elderly couple and the upkeep was rare. We had MUCH to do to get ready to move out to the farm. The old farmhouse had to be removed (it was a 2 bedroom home with termites, mold, and falling apart) via the fire departments gracious work :)

There was MUCH trash and junk gathered all over the property that we had to clean up and weed through. Burn barrels are our friends!  Then the beginning of building a small home while we still live in town. We found a builder and are in the final stages of building a 30 by 40, 2 bedroom home on a walk out basement. We have 5 children so the space will be tight. We are building a phase one project now to get us out there, and in maybe 3 years (The Lord willing and the creek doesn't rise) we will add on to the existing house.

The drywallers are finishing up this week, painting and the internal things will continue. Most of the outside is complete.

With all of the building going on, we have had a lot of focus on that. Now that we are getting there finally we are starting to think about animals. Definately chickens, for meat and eggs. Cattle as my husband Farmer T grew up on a beef farm. Not sure about goats but there is a possibility.  I grew up in the city, and no nothing about farming other than visiting at Farmer T's when I was a teen (we are childhood sweethearts).  So this is all new to me, I am excited and overwhelmed all at once!!

Looking forward to making lots of new friends, and gleaning wisdom on this homestead blogger.
