Jubilee Farm

Still building...

We are getting ever so close to our house being done out on the farm. Just not there yet. Today is cabinets. Hopefully tomorrow is the Well, but that has been a problem getting pinned down. Carpet on Friday? Linoleum when Farmer T can lay it on Saturday?

Lord give me patience to go this last mile...

I got my first seed catalog in the mail yesterday. Now I may sound like a dork, but why are these seeds so much better than Walmart packs for a buck or less? Some of those seeds are quite costly!  I know they have a better chance of working and have been tested and all of that, but does anyone just pick up packs of seeds at the store and go with it??  I am entirely overwhelmed with the amount of information available on gardening. I am not interested in getting a degree in it, but if you were, there is enough information out there for you to be sucessful!!  I am going to have to start small, and childlike in this adventure, otherwise I will fail from overwhelmingness....  Plus we have to see about getting our chicks ordered as soon as we actually get out to the farm. That is going to be so fun..

So that is all going on now at Jubilee Farm. The weather is nuts. 60 degrees and rain one day, snow and 35 the next, tomorrow should be 50 again and rain the next after that!! Not our typical January.

I figure since it is all new to me, that I have to learn slow and steady. And since most of those things you mentioned, heirloom, hybrid I have a vague idea of what they are but not really. So I need to keep it simple to start. My brain can easily be overwhelmed. I am not planning organic, or hybrid. I just want the basics... nothing fancy to start out with. I am sure after a few years I will get daring, but not this first time.
