We had a pretty good weekend here. It was a little chilli, but not to bad. I started to get out the winter clothes and need to finish today and pack away the summer things(all except the tshirts, we keep them out all year). I will make a list of what clothing we still need for the winter as I go and try to hit the three local thrift stores this week to get things. If I can't find all I need there, I will go to walmart or kmart. I did good at a rummage sale on friday - got flannel sheets for the two older girls and a large wicker basket for the blankets in the living room for $3.15. I wanted to buy coats there, but for $15 a piece, I would rather buy new.

I am also starting to think about adapting our menu to more fall/winter meals. Chili, potatoe soup, and tater tot caserole seem to top the list at our house. Breakfast for dinner is also a big hit. The girls like to do homemade pizza on fridays, and meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I bake a lot more bread this time of year too. Pumpkin, banana nut and apple nutmeg are favorites. The kids eat more eggs and oatmeal and less cold cereal this time of year too. I also plan on canning next week. My grandma is going to help. We will can salsa, sphagetti sauce, pickled peppers, applesauce and possibly vegetable soup. We should be well stocked up after that.
I better get busy before the day gets away from me.
