• Sunday, September 10, 2006 - another chicken question

My chickens arent laying very much because they were just moved from another farm to my house yesterday.  Does anyone know when will they start laying normally again?

Chickens are a funny bunch, they thrive on routine and what is familiar; they do not like *change*. It will just depend on each chicken; don't be surprised if one hen gets all happy and starts laying while the rest still wait a while! We've had our chickens for two years and we are still learning how picky they can be. When we clean out the hen house and put all new fresh hay in - they fuss and fuss!! And if we dare re-arrange nesting boxes - well, they'll hold those eggs at least a week! Just because......

Hens are like fussy ol' ladies - busy bodies, too!

Don't worry too much - it will be no time at all before they are all laying!
